This is the quote from Howie I wanted you to see:

By Howard Kurtz
Washington Post Staff Writer
Saturday, February 12, 2005; Page A01

Eason Jordan resigned last night as CNN's chief news executive in an effort to quell a burgeoning controversy over his remarks about U.S. soldiers killing journalists in Iraq.

Even as he said he had misspoken at an international conference in suggesting that coalition troops had "targeted" a dozen journalists and insisted he never believed that, Jordan was being pounded hourly by bloggers, liberals as well as conservatives, who provided the rocket fuel for a story that otherwise might have fizzled.

Fizzled? Of course, he means it would have "fizzled" because the press didn't cover the story at all!

Later in that same article:

As of yesterday, the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune and USA Today had not carried a staff-written story, and the CBS, NBC and ABC nightly news programs had not reported the matter. It was discussed on several talk shows on Fox News, MSNBC and CNBC but not on CNN.

As of Friday!

So they were in the position of not only having to report his resignation, but having to explain WHY he was resigning.

CNN's Jordan Resigns Over Iraq Remarks

Now I'm wondering what other stories have "fizzled out" that we haven't heard about.

Thanks again for the post. I hope a lot of things the MSM has ignored or outright covered up will come to light. As others have posted regarding the media, everything was just fine and dandy as long as they ruined people's lives and careers with partial-truths or partial-quotes, and consciously suppressed exculpatory information. There is a long list of conservatives who were excoriated by these people for things that were otherwise ignored if liberals were involved. Suddenly "journalists" have themselves become brightly lit targets: First by what they report, and second, by statements or actions in a non reporting venue. They have had it coming for decades. They don't LIKE it, and I think it couldn't have happened to a finer bunch of bullies and character assassins!

"Now I'm wondering what other stories have "fizzled out" that we haven't heard about."

The paradigm shift happened the moment that Matt Drudge hit the Enter key that posted the Lewinski story that Newsweek had spiked back in 1998.

Now however, there are millions of on-line Matt Drudges...and they aren't just reporting news, they are interactively critiquing it, refining it, finding the flaws in it, and rapidly drilling down to the truth in each matter (inevitably).

The world of bloggers and chat forums has made millions of Matt Drudges out of all of us...and spiking news has suddenly become tricky for the Corrupt Old Media to manage.
