Wade Churchill is a professor of ethnic studies at the University of Colorado. Up until a couple of weeks ago, nobody outside the radical left community had ever heard of Churchill. But somebody tipped off Bill OReilly that Churchill was invited to speak at a small college in New York. When OReilly checked into Churchills background, he was stunned. Thats been the reaction of just about everybody who researches the kind of hate-filled, anti-American propaganda Churchill has been spewing for years in the guise of teaching "ethnic studies."
Churchill hates the United States. He hates everything about this country. Our government. Our faith. Our people. Our education system. Our social fabric. Our foreign policy. Our economy. He hates you and me.
Churchill blames the United States for everything wrong in the world. He has said repeatedly that the United States has murdered millions of innocent children throughout the world and Americans deserve to die for their sins against the "dark" people of the world. By dark, he refers to anyone other than Caucasian. Churchill likes to tell people that he is a Native American from some unspecified tribe, but theres no evidence of that.
Its one of the delusions that this screwball harbors so he can blame everyone else in the country except for the Native Americans.
I watched a televised hour-long speech Churchill gave last week on the campus of the University of Colorado. He surrounded himself with Native Americans and he even had somebody beating a tom-tom every time he made a major point. Talk about demeaning an ethnic group. I fully expected Churchill to strap on a feather headdress and do a rain dance in the middle of the auditorium. Hes about as Native American as I am.
Churchill was happy in his psychotic little world until Bill OReilly made him Public Enemy No. 1. What caught OReillys attention was an essay that Churchill published shortly after the attacks on Sept. 11 that said the 3,000 American men and women who died on Sept. 11 deserved what they got. He also compared the victims of 9/11 to a Nazi war criminal.
Theres a movement in Colorado to fire Churchill. Hes already stepped down as chairman of the ethnic studies department, but because he has tenure, Churchill has no intention of giving up his $100,000-a-year job.
The American Civil Liberties Union has already come to Churchills defense, saying this a freedom of speech case. Would it surprise anyone that the ACLU would support such a radical anti-American? Is there a more anti-American organization than the ACLU? This is not a free speech issue. No one is infringing on Churchills rights. His essay is readily available on the Internet. He has a Web site. He lectures daily to a captive audience of students. He can stand on any street corner in America and spew his venom. Nobody is denying Churchill the right to free speech.
What this case boils down to is competency. Should a teacher distort the truth to indoctrinate young people to his radical views? Should a person who is paid by the taxpayers of Colorado use classroom time to advocate the overthrow of the United States government?
The Supreme Court has ruled repeatedly that there is no "absolute" right to free speech. You cant run into a movie theater and scream "fire!" at the top of your lungs to create a panic because you feel youre exercising free speech.
So what does Professor Churchill believe? He says the victims of 9/11 had it coming because 400 years ago, the Dutch cheated the Native Americans out of Manhattan island. Yes, he actually said that.
He is virulently anti-Semitic. He doesnt believe the Holocaust took place. He says its all a big conspiracy by the Jews to gain sympathy. He blames Israel for many of the problems in the Middle East.
He believes the U.S. was the aggressor in World War II and had no right to bomb the Japanese home islands. (Im guessing Professor Churchill never heard of Pearl Harbor.)
He also says the United States is an outlaw nation because it used "weapons of mass destruction" (the atomic bombs) on Japan to end World War II.
It might be wiser to ignore Churchill until his 15 minutes of fame expire, but he is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to radical leftists who populate our college campus. Where are communists hiding these days? In the faculty lounge of many of our institutions of higher learning. More on that in a future column. In the meantime, size up Churchill for a straitjacket.

Where are those loudmouthed Jersey Girls on this guy's statements? Rather silent, wouldn't you say?
It just goes to show that they were just political stooges. They darkened their husbands' good names by their behavior, imo.
Yeah.
Been wondering the same thing lately.
"Can't one be sued for discrimination for not hiring graduates of a certain college?"
Even better than not hiring a graduate from the University of Colorado would be to not send our children to such a school. I was already having second thoughts about UC because of the recent spate of alcohol related deaths of UC freshmen, so I dont see Ward Churchill as a disease infecting the UC campus but rather as a symptom of a disease infecting the administrators, staff, faculty and students of the University of Colorado.
Until the University of Colorado cleans itself up, I will not send my children to it nor will I recommend it to others. Not only do we waste our money by sending our children to such a school, we endanger them by exposing them at such an early age to unsavory people like Ward Churchill.
And like someone else, he lied about his service in Viet Nam. I forget the other guy's name...
No, just say "not qualified" and leave it at that.
BTW, your alma mater ain't a "protected status"...yet, anyway.
"The simple answer to your question is no. Education is an allowable form of discrimination.
For instance, you have two applicants who have identical degrees. One received his degree from Princeton University, and the other from Parsons. You hire the candidate from Princeton based upon the reputation of the institution granting the degree. Can you be sued? NO.
Or- both applicants have identical degrees but one has a transcript reflecting additional study in areas that would be an asset to the company you are hiring for. Can you be sued for selecting the applicant that had taken the additional courses that benefit your company? NO.
If you find that the course of study pursued by the applicant is not an asset your company needs, then you certainly have the right not to hire that applicant."
Works for me! Thanks. :-D
LOL!
LOL!
Oh, right...now what was that guy's name...?
Seems to be a defining factor of the far left wingnuts.
LOL! Funny stuff.
People like you are the reason I love this sight so very much. I love the learning process.
What's wrong w/ this picture ?
He doesn't have a Ph.D. For some reason that was not considered vital in his field (ethnic studies). He claims to have an M.A. from Sangamon State University (which has since become the University of Illinois at Springfield).
I am amazed at the people who sput crap that they hate the USA and all that it stands for, but for some reason continue to live, work, eat and sleep here.
Slow down, there, buddy.I watched the speech he gave at the college, and the students seemed a whole lot brighter than Churchill.
Churchill went to great lengths to explain that in his "Eichmann remark",he was referring to the technocrats, not the food service employees, janitors, firefighters, cops, passers by,etc(his beloved working class). One student said the he doubted that any of Churchill's students were studying to become janitors or food service employees,i.e.,Churchill was calling his students future Eichmanns."That's your choice",he lamely replied.
Another had been in a Columbus Day parade, which Churchill and his group protested.Free speech does not include celebrating genocide,Churchill said.I have a ninth amendment right(!!!)not to be subjected to speech I don't like.
I wonder if I have a ninth amendment right to be free of his nonsense.
This should be required reading for every college student (and every HS Senior heading for college).
That student who observed that students at CU were not likely to become janitors seemed to be a brave conservative who expected most of the crowd to be on WC's side, or maybe I was just reading that into his demeanor.
That was my take,too.
