I never saw your FR profile page before.

In 1964 (I believe it was that year) I shook Ted Kennedy's hand during a parade in South Boston. My notions about the world were quite different back then in those days. I have no pictures to prove it however, and fortunately.

A few months after that incident I turned 10 years old. Still later, I developed certain opinions concerning the Olympic swimming wannabe.

8 Jun 56 Has been formally recognized by the Pentagon as the first American officially to die in that war.
5 Sep 56 - President Eisenhower tells a news conference that the French are
"involved in a hopelessly losing war in Indochina" 1956 The US believed in that Ho Chi Minh would have won any election held in Viet Nam and used their influence over the government of the State of Viet Nam to ensure that the election was not held

and the last casualties in connection with the war occurred on May 15, 1975, during the Mayaquez incident. Vietnam was a savage, in your face war where death could and did strike from anywhere with absolutely no warning. The brave young men and women who fought that war paid an awful price of blood, pain and suffering. As it is said: "ALL GAVE SOME ... SOME GAVE ALL"
The Vietnam war was not lost on the battlefield. No American force in ANY other conflict fought with more determination or sheer courage than the Vietnam Veteran.  For the first time in our history America sent it's young men and women into a war run by inept politicians who had no grasp of military strategies and no moral will to win. They were led by "top brass" who were concerned mainly with furthering their own careers, most neither understood the nature of the war nor had a clue about the impossible mission with which they'd tasked their soldiers.  And the war was reported by a self serving Media who penned stories filled with inaccuracies, deliberate omissions, biased presentations and blatant distorted interpretations because they were more interested in a story than the truth! It can be debated that we should never have fought that war. It can also be argued that the young Americans who fought so courageously, never losing a single major battle, helped in a huge way to WIN THE COLD WAR.

I agree that the assertion that JFK got America into the Vietnam War is false; the truth is that he did nothing to get America out of Vietnam, which leads me to the conclusion that JFK viewed our involvement in Southeast Asia as a necessary and important facet in defending freedom and continuing the Truman Doctrine.

Ted Kennedy is the most anti-American politician I've seen in my lifetime. He truly hates his own country, even more so than the usual liberal.

Excellent post. We did what was right. No apologies. Vietnam was pivotal in holding back the scourge of Communist expansionism and all the untold horrors that it entails.. Perhaps the Berlin wall would not have come down in 1989 if it was not for the critical blocking/delaying operation that Vietnam represented.

Vietnam vets never deserved the defamation of their noble character that hollywood and others instigated.

The liberals and Commies in Hollywood and D.C. should be ashamed of themselves.

As a bonus, her propaganda aided and abetted the VC and hurt our public image.

Fonda, Kerry, etc. Traitors. Add them to the growing list (now Benedict Arkin).

I propose a new medal, the Red Heart, for those seriously wounded (bullet in the ribs, eye, head, loss of limb, etc), so that the likes of Kerry can never claim it. He is anathema for those who received serious wounds in combat who truly deserved the Purple Heart and earned it in fierce combat.

If anything, Sen. Kennedy's shameful stance more closely mirrors that of his father, Joseph P. Kennedy, who as FDR's ambassador to Great Britain during World War II was the chief administration proponent of appeasement of Hitler and the Nazis.

I don't know how the other two brothers would have turned out but it could not have been any worse than Fat Eddie.
