Wouldn't this make Ward Churchill a Little Riefenstahl?

Not really. Riefenstahl was a genial filmmaker, too bad her bosses were criminal yahoos. Ward is just an idiot.

There is a key difference between Leni Riefenstahl's propagandistic support of Hitler compared to the support Ward Churchill expressed for the terrorists of 9/11.

Consider what would have happened to Churchill if:

He had been a member of Russian Academia and had publicly praised Hitler during the siege of Stalingrad,

He had been a member of German Academia and had publicly praised the allies during the bombings of Hamburg and Dresden,

He had been a member of American Academia and had praised the bombing of Pear Harbor, or had cheered at the American defeats at Corregidor and Wake Island, and then justified the Bataan death march as the "little guy striking back."

I disagree with Riefenstahl's view of Hitler and the Nazi regime, but remember, she was supporting her own leader and her own nation. Churchill is more akin to Benedict Arnold than to Leni Riefenstahl.
