Jim Wallis is a Christian leader for social change. He is a speaker, author, activist, and international commentator on ethics and public life. Wallis was a founder of Sojourners - Christians for justice and peace - more than 30 years ago and continues to serve as the editor of Sojourners magazine, covering faith, politics and culture. In 1995, Wallis was instrumental in forming Call to Renewal, a national federation of churches, denominations, and faith-based organizations from across the theological and political spectrum working to overcome poverty.
Jim Wallis is editor and founder of the liberal evangelical magazine Sojourners.
Wallis also talks about the president's personal faith and how he is putting that faith into action. He worries that after 9/11, the president seemed to turn from being a "self-help Methodist" to a "Messianic American Calvinist speaking of the mission of America, and even of his perhaps divine appointment to be president at a time such as this." Wallis also criticizes the religious language and hymnology used in the president's speeches which is "often misused or often put in a different context and the meaning changed."

lol!
Here is more from the KOOK...
Too many evangelical Christians are like affluent, upper-middle class suburban dwellers more than they are like those who love and cherish and follow the Bible.
Now, they think they are. They believe they are. They love the Bible. But they're not paying attention to whole vast areas of biblical teaching that call for economic justice. You can't be evangelical and associate yourself with Jesus and what he says about the poor and just have no other domestic concerns than tax cuts for wealthy people.
I mean, these are good people. But this is not biblical thinking. What's changing -- and it is changing all over the country -- is a new generation of evangelicals are discovering the poor in the Bible.
******
I guess he doesn't consider that most of us seem to be able to help the poor without "help" from the government. I don't trust the government in deciding who THEY THINK is poor.
No kidding!
I saw this guy on Hannity & Colmes also. You're right, he's a KOOK. A fruitcake, with raisins for eyes.
If you ever encounter one of these people ask them what Jesus would think of abortion.
I wonder if he has a pregnant girlfriend to bring for a photo op like Jesse did.
The liberals have a real problem. Their philosophy IS their religion. They worship it as fervently as any Christian worships God. They are now in the almost impossible position of melding the language of 2 religions into one. The only outcome of that exercise is a "message" so muddled no one will be able to understand what they are trying to say.
They are only trying to fool the voters. It isn't working with me and I hope it isn't working for many others either. Simply put, THEY ARE LIARS!
I just bet he is one of those Bible illiterates who thinks the Bible tells us not to judge, then doesn't quote the rest of the passage in Matthew 7.
He does not seem to be bothered by killing the unborn and the rise of the sodomite movement or other sexual perversion.
I believe we should help poor people and the truly needy, but it is like the Apostle Paul said,"if a man doesn't work, he is not to eat. How many times do you think this gnat-strainer has quoted that verse, less than zero ?
If he's a "Christian" I'll eat my hat!
This is play acting - which the dems are good at - it's not real life .. it's a fantasy.
They may think they can fool people - but we aren't fooled by these tactics and we will not be fooled by the dems changing "how they talk about their religion". It's not the talk stupid dems - it's your actions. You can't say you love GOD and then vote for every perverse piece of legislation on the planet.
You're right. The Liberal stance on every moral issue is counterintuitive to that which is contained in the Holy Bible. They will be having a hard sell when it comes to moral issues going into the next several election cycles if they continue to be on the wrong side of history and morality.
They are socialists
They think we are tooo stupid to write a check to a Charity or actually volunteer for FREE to help those that are in need
They want to take our money and then claim they are helping the poor
As Rush Limbaugh likes to say, it's all part of the Liberal Doctrine of, "Who can we fool today?"
You're right. The problem is, Democrats didn't lose because this guy wasn't around to fool the voters, the Democrats lost because of what they stand for as a party, not just based on religious issues, but based on societal issues, which borrow themselves from the religious values.
