Man Jailed for Racist Comment Mix-Up Killing

A former nightclub bouncer who killed a man he thought had made a racist comment but who was actually talking about chips, has been jailed for four years, police said today.
Lawrence Fraser, 43, punched father-of-two Martin Johnson outside a fast food shop in Harlow, Essex, in May last year after hearing him say: “There were too many black ones.”
Mr Johnson, 46, fell and hit his head on the pavement. He was taken to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, where he died of his injuries a week later.
Fraser, of Wharley Hook, Harlow, was convicted of manslaughter yesterday at Chelmsford Crown Court.
The court heard he had eight previous convictions for causing actual bodily harm.
Detective Constable Jerott McCreath of Essex Police, said: “Martin Johnson was a family man with two teenage boys who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“The tragic events unfolded after a misunderstanding and our sympathy is with his family.”

4 years. Unbelievable.
Four years?
Sentenced to 4, probably out in 2 for "good behavior"...
Was this the superbowl commercial that didn't air because it sure fits in with the cellphone "robbery" motif? Life imitating art or art imitating life?
So why wasn't he already in jail?
In the absense of a death penalty in the UK-why the hell isn't this SOB serving life without parole?

The logic of the second statement escapes me. This criminal as obviously prone to violence and the victim did nothing. Even if he had made a racist comment, which he did not, the eagerness of the criminal to perpetrate violence was the driving force.
He was in the wrong place for sure - Anywhere near this thug. The criminal was also in the wrong place - He should aready have been put away. IMO This is plain out murder and the four years sentence is a travesty. Sounds like something out of our courts here.

This happened in England I think. My cousin was called a nigger and had to run for his life in Northern Ireland.
I'll never tell the clerk there aren't enough eggplants at the grocery store, that's for sure.
Another tragedy is that this SOB got only four years.
That's a war zone though! They hate everyone up there... they murder their own neighbors if they're Catholic. Crazy place.

Yeah and they were pretty pissed about losing a football match too. Bad bad bad...my sister remembers seeing policemen with rifles in the streets there.
