OPB Sex Abuse Coverage
Oregon Magazine ^ | January 22, 2005 | Larry Leonard

January 22, 2005 -- Lee Hochberg of OPB, for the national network, did a piece, this evening, that criticized Catholic parishes for their penurious attitude toward the victims of sex abuse -- he calls it "priest abuse."

It is a perfect line for whiplashing a politically incorrect religion. Catholics don't support "choice." (In this case, the term "choice" means the right to execute small humans without a trial.)

Priest abuse. Let's examine that.....(snip)

Question for the Catholics:

Have your Priests addressed these abuse issues in the course of your regular services? Is there some kind of rule about what they should or shouldn't say passed down from above?

I'm just curious how the average Catholic foot soldier is dealing with this.

I think lay Catholics are beginning to ask themselves what they are going to do about this mess...scary to continue relying on the hierarchy to keep their kids safe. Hopefully, Protestants will be asking themselves those questions as well.

The news comes out during the week about another allegation and the priests on Sunday rail against abortion. I've never heard a priest speak about the pedophila but I've read where it has happened on a couple of occasions.

With all due respect to the genuine victims of homosexual pedophiles of which *some* are priests, I don't believe the article has to do with such victims. I followed the link and found an article addressing what I've been complaining about for years -- they way the media never identifies abusive priests by what they really are: Queers. Its like all priest are heterosexuals running loose and attacking *only* boys of about 9 to 14 years of age. The word homosexual never enters the news story but it is Queers and not priests (as a group) who are doing the molesting.

American, yes, that's the article I did link to, as you say.

And I agree with you AND the article that Public Broadcasting attacking all priests for the incomparable evil of those homosexual pedophiles is very wrong!

Yes they have. However, when compared to the percentage of pedophiles in the main stream public, the percentages of priests that have done this is much lower. Translation, priests are human beings, some of which are flawed. The true tragedy of this behavior and why it has been such a large story is that the perpetrators were in positions of great trust, which they obviously betrayed. Look on line at how many registered sex offenders live very close to you. The number will most certainly shock you, and those are only the ones that have been registered.

...scary to continue relying on the hierarchy to keep their kids safe.

Obviously a tactic that isn't working. You can't solve the problem simply by moving the pieces around.

Moving them around gives them access to ever more children.
It is calculated.
They are a plague.
