though, to be fair, it was the blood and body of Russians that defeated Hitler along with American weapons and industrial might and English defiance and Polish code-breaking skills

The Soviets treated their men as cannon fodder (well, all Russian armies did that -- their motto for centuries was "we have more cannon fodder"

“To be fair” one has to acknowledge that Stalin enabled Hitler to go on his rampage in the first place. They were carving up Europe together. The only reason there was a falling out between Stalin and Hitler was because Hitler didn’t trust Stalin and turned on him.

My Father said that you could tell the Communist apologists in the U.S. during the war by how quickly they turned from a posture of pacifism to one of war mongering once Mother Russia had been attacked.

Agreed — but I’m making a difference between Russians and the communists. The Bolsheviks used Russians as cattle and their “kill as many of these proletariat as you want, you nazis, we’ll overwhelm you with numbers” won WWII —> WITH American industrial might (what many forget is that the USA supplied the Soviets with weaponry
