The shot heard around the Internet has been fired on FreeRepublic.com The owner Jim Robinson and his moderators have launched a sniper style purge against members that disagree with the Presidents guest worker amnesty or support more control of illegal immigration. Free Republic is an amazing tool for those looking for a good debate and news from around the country.
The problem for the administration of the site is that their creation is allowing the participants to learn that the Bush immigration record and plans are shockingly out of line with the views of most conservatives. The managements answer to this conflict between the majority of conservatives and the influence of the White House on their Web site has become electronic executions and censorship.
Members and readers of Free Republic would be surprised to know that many members of their community have fallen silent on the discussions about illegal immigration lately because free speech is an illusion on FR.com. They are silent because they have been banned from the Web site without warning, cause, or explanation in most cases. For weeks the moderators have been suspending and banning new members that chimed in quickly on the immigration debates.
Now this trend has broadened as the first groups of long-term users were suspended or banned this past week. Although Robinson and his staff removed many members of the Free Republic community in the first few days of the purge, those that religiously support President Bushs immigration plan, open borders and approve of public benefits for illegal aliens remain on the forum. Those that were banned were the members that wanted more done to control illegal immigration and a strict observance to the Presidents Oath of Office.
You said... "Huh, maybe look in the mirror, and tear down your poster of david duke."
Let me repeat it again, just in case some people didnt get it the first time...
"Huh, maybe look in the mirror, and tear down your poster of david duke."
David Duke!
Incredible....David Duke... talk about a blast from the past!
I think his cousin is next door neighbor to Pat Buchanan's brother in law! We have Vast Right Wing Nazi Conspiracy!
How did you find out....doll...check your phone lines...they are un to you. Make sure that you shread ALL your trash too!
Yeah I was going to respond to him but why bother, might as well watch Saturday morning cartoons.
Maybe some of these apparent "big tenters" are not part of the GOP / right at all, or, if they are, they are only members for the worst possible reasons. Just a thought.
Most of us are just shaking our heads in disbelief...
sw
doll..also...DONT throw out the Campbells Chunky Chicken soup cans.
David Dukes mailmans brother knows a guy who lives next door to somebody who owns stock in Campbells.
Our gig is up...the Nazi party is over...KAPUT!
If you were attacked as a "race baiter" it fails the logic test if you declare that you did not first call someone a racist or suggest racism in some way.
As boring as it is I will say this again. I remember vividly the Goldwater v. Rockefeller years. Modern conservatism was attacked and attacked by Rockefeller Republicans and liberals as racists, hate mongers and more.
We survived those attacks and brought forth unity and Ronald Reagan.
The Rockefeller Republicans learned that it was folly to lump modern conservatism in with the National States Rights Party simply because we questioned taking major powers away from the states and sending the power to government employees in Washington.
Today's "Rockefeller" Republicans should learn that it is folly to attack opponents to the President on some issues as "racists."
These ad hominem attacks are patented stupid tricks used effectively by liberals for decades to deflect questions about their agenda. The personal attacks are soooooooooo 20th century.
Yep and they seem to be coming out of the woodwork now.
Another thing I have noticed is that some of the more vicious posters are not the same person every day. They may post under the same name but you can tell from the style and content they are different people. I would not dream of naming names.. heh
Consider what Saul Alinsky wrote and what Hillary and Bill imbibed. I would not discount that possibility that at least some of the would be "big tenters" are one of the following:
1) Not, in real life, part of the GOP or any other party of the Right. Agents provacateurs - imposters who are Leftist operatives in real life.
2) Officially part of the GOP, but here on evil missions. True moles of the worst kind. Working in reality for the Left but under deep cover, disguised in public life as "moderate" Republicans or, at their utmost, perhaps even further to the Right in appearance.
Well, David Duke DID try to run as a Republican - most notably in 1991, for governor of Louisiana. Thankfully he got the cold shoulder. That SOB lost - and I'm not sorry to hear he had to do prison time, either.
As for Dane... well, I can certainly see where he might get the notion. I wish I could believe claims it was just race-baiting, but I've seen the immgiration threads for far too long.
You have raised a good point. When a "user" is on line for 14 - 20 hours per day (including large chunks of weekends) and makes hundreds upon hundreds of posts per day, a body of users sharing a single account cannot be discounted.
That's the crux right there hutch, If you dare question them they(spiff, marine inspector, etc.etc) automatically bring out the race card.
Noted & filed for future reference.
the "guest stay" would be for no more than 3 or 4 months --- the harvest season for example and the guest would be returned home.
But not if the person had previously entered and resided here illegally.
How do you feel when you see our organized FReeps equated with neo-Nazi vigilantism?
Please ping me if and when you post FTAA articles. Thanks.
"You know my name, look up the number."
The problem is... we're seeing some serious problems. Now, I hate to cast aspersions or anything, but let's be honest: At best, some of the stuff that has been discussed is questionable. At worst, it's out-and-out racism.
Now, I admit that false charges of racism have flown in the past. Notably, from the NAACP when people have raised valid arguments and concerns about things like racial quotas and vote fraud.
That does not change the fact that there are still racists out there. Nor that they use legitimate gripes to further their dispicable and disgusting agenda. Given that we KNOW the Left uses this form of attack and prefers to, why do some folks want to push the envelope, and leave fellow conservatives open to such attacks?
