Hillery will be voting for this right? She should have cosponsored this bill being she is moving in this direction.

When the Fed goes bankrupt, that means every factory in the world will go bankrupt...and the Depression of 1929 will look like a burp compared to the global devastation that mankind will experience, because when the Fed falls, the domino affect will take down every central bank in the world. Bush knows that the only way to add 10 to 15 million new taxpaying workers on the IRS's roster is to legalize the illegal aliens who are working under the table for cash. You might not like it. I certainly don't like it. But these are the realities ...and the consequences America must pay for the deaths of 49.3 million unborn babies. There is no conspiracy here. There is just this simple truth. A permissive society is always obligated to pay for license."

I'm not so sure I agree with the entire premise, but at least it's an interesting theory that attempt to make sense of the senselessness.

He**, it's so screwed up now that I no longer have the capacity to be surprised in America anymore...hey! - I just saw Richard Nixon's ghost whiz by...lol

We've already capitulated our border, sovereignty, security - let alone economic foundation...a long time ago.

We been had. Sold out. A Great Republic...if you can keep it. Yeah, right. Truth and a man with the brass to keep steady during it - is a luxury America, apparently, no longer possesses. Our Founding Fathers pity our foolishness.

Our service industry would be crippled if there was a severe disruption to the illegals who do most of the dirty work.

Is there any evidence at all of that happening after "Operation Wetback" --- I doubt the economy showed any dip from that --- and wouldn't from deportations now. Hispanic youth unemployment is the highest of any group --- there are enough people to do the service industry jobs.

"The president's guest worker program is not going anywhere, period." Mr. Lott added: "He needs to go ahead and accept it. We are not going to do anything that looks like, smells like or in anyway resembles amnesty, period."

Well, if wishy-washy Lott is saying something this strong, maybe things are looking up.

...you can say that again.

It be nice if they would stop the Mujahideen from Criminally Invading America. If almost 2 each day are getting caught, on average, then I dare say that probably THOUSANDS are HERE and KEEP COMING EACH YEAR!!!

Sleeper CELLS?!? How about SLEEPER ARMY OF CELLS!

No offense but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the socialism rampant in our nation is going to cause major problems in the near future.

And abortion is a separate issue. It shouldn't be used as the reason why we're in this mess, because it isn't. The reason we're in this mess is because too many people are content with being personally unaccountable.

It's mind-boggling how the vast majority of our elected officials couldn't care less about our nation's porous borders. Do they really think the Islamofascists are unaware of the vulnerability?

One problem: how does he get them to go home?

If they don't, then they miss out on the program. Unless I'm misunderstanding your question.

Wise move. Now the question remains re WTO and free trade, minimally. Both are violations of their oaths of office. Both must be remedied. And IMO, the clock hasn't stopped ticking. The alcoholic has put down the glass. Now the question is whether he stops driniking and pours the bottle down the drain. Their move...

I've been saying for several years now the reason the illegals will be granted amnesty will be to make them legitimate taxpayers who will be bound to the IRS tax laws.

And who will be required to report and pay federal taxes.

Makes perfect sense to me.

"I've been saying for several years now the reason the illegals will be granted amnesty will be to make them legitimate taxpayers who will be bound to the IRS tax laws."

There's a lot wrong principles with this proposal even IF that's the theory. However, it becomes enacted...

1) The IRS will never go after the "new" citizens.

2) There will ALWAYS be an underground economy because the US government will NEVER register ALL the illegal immigrants

3) The border is NEVER getting closed. Count on a free-for-all of illegals from ALL OVER the world once the plan is announced

4) Demographical chaos will reign within 20 years.

How much shall we bet that once the bill reaches the Senate, the GOP Mod Squad will team up with the 'Rats to kill it or amend it into oblivion?

Considering our tails are in a collective crack (thanks to letting liberals have their way on abortion and each party's abuse of SSI over the years) it seems that the age of access must be raised as an interim measure before more complicated solutions can be implemented. Believing that illegal immigrants will flock to a conditional amnesty is a pipe-dream, as they've already become accustomed to doing well under the official radar and are obviously willing to live with the very low risk of deportation.

Economic and trade interdependency with other nations led to extreme deprivations 60 years ago - now we literally couldn't stand up to China (for one example) should they decide to flex all that muscle we've been helping them build thanks to our ridiculous habit of putting short-term profit over national security concerns.

"Ohmugod, Noreen. WalMarts CLOSED!"

"Were sorry to announce these layoffs, but until parts arrive from..."

Not only do we need to recreate self-sustainment through rewarding in-country entepenourship, anything going out that can be done here should be heavily taxed or levied.

Thanks, both of you for your thoughtful replies.

Barring unforseen miracles (big ones, and lots of them) for fixing the migrant invasion, collapse of social security, a no-win war with China and Russia (allied against us) - we can all agree on one thing. WE R SCREWED.

I wish I had the intellect to come up with better solutions. Since our peanut gallery of nattering nabobs all insist they're so brilliant perhaps they could devote some effort to actually helping the country.
