I bet this Josef Goebbels wannabe would have blamed Ernie Pyle's death on the Marines if he'd been around back then.
He should be ready to document the details of each death if he has them and have no problem making that information available to the public.

David Gergen, editor-at-large for U.S. News & World Report and moderator of the discussion in Davos, now says Jordan had recently been to Iraq, and was "caught up in the tension of the moment" and "deserves the benefit of the doubt."Why? He didn't give our soldiers the benefit of any doubt.

I have no idea what this means. Is it any wonder a clown like Gergen would go to bat for bill clinton? What "benefit" of what "doubt?"
I can see how a discussion with a bunch of other journalists can be so tense that it would cause a "leader" in journalism to make up something this explosive.

. . . Jordan had recently been to Iraq, and was "caught up in the tension of the moment" and "deserves the benefit of the doubt. That attitude is designed to cover (up) a multitude of sins...

Barney Frank claims he contacted Jordan and demanded "specifics." Frank said he would pursue the issue if there were credible evidence. At this writing, Jordan has yet to take the congressman up on his offer. But, if it is proven a lie, the Senator will be oh-so-happy to let it slide...

These e-mailing, Web-surfing, call-'em as you see-'em bloggers are the electronic equivalent of the pamphleteers who brought about our revolution. Thomas Paine lives!

There is a lesson in all of this, and not just for CNN, but for all the media. Jordan's disparaging duplicity wasn't exposed by the barons of broadcasting or the potentates of print, but by "amateurs" -- bloggers -- the same "unwashed masses" who brought down Dan Rather. These e-mailing, Web-surfing, call-'em as you see-'em bloggers are the electronic equivalent of the pamphleteers who brought about our revolution.Terrific piece! I love the historical analogy he gives here. You're one of us, aren't you, Ollie.

why should any member of the media in attendance be let off the hook for failing to immediately jump up and demand: "Prove it!" when Jordan made his unsubstantiated charges?By their actions (or inactions) you will know them.

Liberal Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank claims he contacted Jordan and demanded "specifics." Frank said he would pursue the issue if there were credible evidence. At this writing, Jordan has yet to take the congressman up on his offer. When I first heard B. Frank was outraged, I assumed, silly me, that he disgusted by the allegations and wanted proof to call Jordan on the table for his outrageous comments.
Now the ugly truth comes out, it seems B. Frank was just hoping for the allegations to be true as ammo against our military and the administration. He wanted proof from Jordan to pursue the charges.

Thanks for the ping.
"... at least 10 journalists have been killed by the U.S. military, and according to reports I believe to be true, journalists have been arrested and tortured by U.S. forces."
Get out of my dreams, Mr. Jordan.

Frank said he would pursue the issue if there were credible evidence. At this writing, Jordan has yet to take the congressman up on his offer Frank should pursue the release of the tape ANYWAY. If our military is being discussed or slandered is a session about will DEMOCRACY SURVIVE THE MEDIA, then you better bet our military has a right to know what is being said. We all do. The 'off the record' is a cover. So WHY is THAT? Franks, do you damn job and get that tape. You OWE it to the American people to let us know just WHAT the press is saying AND PLANNING. The foreign press has picked up where Jordan left off and is running with the targetting of journalists stories.. We had BETTER get a handle on this propaganda.
