This whole thing makes me sick to my stomach. He is an honorable person who proudly put his life on the line to protect our freedoms. HE VOLUNTEERED, while others sit safely on the sidelines and bitch about what he is doing. I say put the f***ing JAGS on the front line in his position and see how they react. I hope to God that he gets off, without any punishment. The marines should be supporting him for courage, not condeming him for his actions in the middle of war.

Just catching up with this whole thing! This is just plain wrong!!! Let this young man go! I am listening to his mom on Hannity right now. Her son needs our support! What are our troops supposed to do - stand there and wait to be killed?!

What a bunch of PC garbage. This is an outrage!

This guy is a great American. However, it looks like the politicians at the Pentagon preferred that he should have waited to been killed. Whoever, brought up these charges should be fired immediately! What a bunch of crap! What kind of message does this send to the Mariens in Iraq? I guess they should die instead? Who was the wimpy pencil pusher that decided on this? This is CRAP!

I wish his Mom had not gotten involved publicly with this situation. It makes the soldier look like a baby who needs his mommy to intercede on his behalf.

I have not gotten my calls returned by the Camp Lejeune PR folks either. I left two message and haven't hear a peep yet. I would really like to be able to understand this story.

hannity has a friend of the family on right now- he says the public outcry has been huge on this story...

I am somewhat confused. The spokeperson for the Marines said that this was an investigation into the allegations, yet his attorney kept stating he was charged with murder.
Someone is not telling the truth or ommitting some of the truth.
I do not think the Marines would make a blatantly false statement in this case, especially because the legs are growing longer & longer.
Even the most incompetent of attorneys should know the difference between an investigation into allegations and a formal charge of murder. Someone (forget who) said the attorney was respected in his field of military law.
However, based on this passage the attoeney has already contradicted himself: [bold mine]
He feels a certain amount of betrayal for the simple reason that its some of his own men who are saying he did this, men he fought side by side with and most likely saved their lives by decisions he made every day."
Some of the men in the unit who might have spoken to authorities have said the shooting was not an act of self-defense, according to a conversation Mr. Rhodes said he had with 2nd Lt. Pantano.
Today on Hannity he said 2 men saw the incident. The accuser who is a radio operator & had been removed from many posts (excuse if lingo not right). The other was a man who backed up what Pantano's story.
I know nothing of this attorney, but it seems to me, by making these contradictory public statements on behalf of his client, his client may be in deep doo-doo because of his attorney. By the time this is over, his lawyer will have screwed the whole thing up. Mark Geragos' claims prior to the petersen trial is coming to mind.

Military justice will proceed in its own way. There may be or already have been press conferences on this incident, but it will not affect the outcome, no matter the cry from civilians.
