Russell Means is an actor/activist/indian.
In 1987 he also ran for the Libertarian nomination for President, losing to Ron Paul.
I heard the segment on Hannity.

I was just glad to learn he wasn't a teacher but an "actor".

"Russell Means was born an Oglala/Lakota Sioux Indian. He was the first national director of the American Indian Movement (AIM) in which role he became prominent during 1972 standoff with the US government at Wounded Knee. In 1987, he joined the US Libertarian party and announced his candidacy for the party's presidential nomination. (He lost the nomination to Congressman Ron Paul.)
Since 1992, Means has appeared in "The Last of the Mohicans, " "Natural Born Killers" and other movies. In a televised speech to the 2000 Libertarian Party National Convention, Means said that he prefers the label "Indian" to the more politically correct "Native American." "Everyone who is born in America is a native American, " he said."
This is from his "bio" on a page about "last of the Mohicans".

Have we come so far away from 9/11 that this is the perception?I don't think that people of Russell Means' ilk had to travel very far. People of his mindset were relatively immune to the kind of feelings that most of us had post 9/-11.
They continually look for ways to say that America is evil and that we deserve any bad thing that happens.

His name used to always be mentioned as "Dennis Banks and Russel Means" of the AIM (American Indian Movement).
My main objection to THE LAST OF THE MOHICANS is that Russel Means was in it. It was not as good as the Masterpiece Theatre version (which is not available from those video catalogs that offer every other Masterpiece Theatre offering.)

I thought Means has already discredited Churchill's "Indianess" and kicked him out of AIM.
