I hardly think it's sad when a person is given every opportunity in the world and they still can't manage to live a decent life. They are spoiled icky non-people.

Yes, I'm happy for Charles and Camilla and don't care whether or not you give a fig. IMO, they've always been perfectly suited to each other and would have married when young except for the near-inhuman rules and regs Charles had to attempt to live up to. C&C would have lived more proper, appropriate, dignified lives together than Diana could have even imagined.

If England must have a royal family, and it must, the family should provide a good example of behavior and respect for country. At this point, I'm not sure whether those stellar qualities of bravery and compassion displayed by the young QE2 and "Queen Mum" during WW2 will ever be salvaged.

Charles is by far the worst here because he knowingly stood before the Church (one he's supposed to be the protector of) and lied

in the age old custom of the Royals, Charles was carrying on with a married woman, but needed heirs - and per rule, it had to a virgin. So he went out and got a brood mare - albeit neglecting to let her in on the secret. He wooed and cooed - she believed -

Then she wakes up and finds out he's never stopped with the old gal friend - and that the whole staff and "mummy" know and think of HER as the intruder - and the whole world is watching every move -

so what was her problem? (So much throwing rocks art glass houses, must be nice to be so perfect)

Charles couldn't help but grow up emotionally stunted in that environment and didn't have the common sense to try to pretend his marriage to Diana meant something to him.

which is why he slept with Camilla the same week he married Diana? And never stopped?

Now the emotionally stunted, I won't argue - but that was already a component. He had to marry a virgin to have have heirs - the rule. That left Camilla out of the loop - but not his bed.

He married Diana for one reason only - a brood mare.

Wonder how many would feel if you woke up the day after your marriage and realized that's all you were to your husband and that he was still sleeping with his "girl"friend?

I don't care about C&C any more than I care about Brad Pitt and Jennifer Anniston. That is just my opinion, and I am not saying you are wrong. I agree with everything you said. I just don't care about the royals, in general. This day and age, I think it's silly.

Bummer there aren't any Plantagenets left...oh wait, they were French

I may be wrong but I believe the Plantagenets were of Viking origin - that came down to Normandy (William the Conquerors great or great great ? grandfather)and then to Britain..

I keep thinking of Monty Python skits. Is there any PROOF this is a woman?

Seems like I remember that one of Camilla's ancestors was a similar consort to a similar royal way, way back when - maybe it was to Edward VII? Kind of eerie, I thought at the time.

Princess Diana's family is a branch of the Spencer-Churchills (yes, Sir Winston's family), of which the Duke of Marlborough is the head. It's an accident of family history that her branch is named Spencer only; they have as good a right to the Churchill name as the senior line.

No one who chooses to read a thread about the royals gets to lord their apathy over anyone else here. We're all rubbernecking; some are just slowing down more than others.

True. I really wanted to see what the Freepers were saying about it. On most threads of this nature, there are some very funny comments made. And I wasn't lording; my comment was made to someone who said they were happy for the Prince and his woman. Perhaps I turned to look at the wreck of the royal family, but I certainly have no emotion bordering on happiness for a couple of over privileged inbred brats who are getting married. Oh, and I meant that having a royal family at all is silly, not the Freeper who made the comment.

Oh I see. Since everyone knew about it, and tradition being what it is, it was ok. Yeah right.

..the son of Di and her polo instructor.

Not so. In fact Diana did not meet James Hewitt until after Harry was born!

Harry gets his looks and coloring from the Spensers. Check out Diana's sisters.

Prince Charles deserves to wake up next to that face every morning for the rest of his life. Yikes.

Charles married Dianan and then contunued with his affair with Camilla. Charles was the whore(first) he married Diana because it was convenient.

They didn't get married in the first place because she married another man.
