America's top radio talker Rush Limbaugh was greeted like a rock star on Monday during an appearance in San Jose, California, while taking a few days off from his regular broadcast to play in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament.
The packed house at the San Jose Civic Auditorium "welcomed him with a standing ovation," reported the San Jose Mercury News. "There were no hecklers or protesters, and the only shouts were of love for the host," the paper said.
"We are in the midst of a seminal historic shift in this country," Limbaugh told the audience. "The Democrat party and the media have lost their monopoly. They don't rule the roost anymore."
The watershed political moment would have amazed his father, the top talker observed. "If my father could see what's happened today, just the sight of the Democrat party would extend his life by 10 years."
That's one reason conservatives have nothing to fear from Hillary Clinton, he assured those on hand.
Still, the GOP faces a major political problem that can no longer be ignored, he warned. "The Republicans' failure to understand the American people's building rage on illegal immigration" could give rise to a third party candidate, he said, who could tip the 2008 presidential race to the Democrats, much the same way Ross Perot's campaign did in 1992.
Limbaugh also seemed to revise earlier criticism of Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for not being conservative enough, telling the audience, "I was wrong."
2,700 people paid $40 a piece to see Limbaugh live. Proceeds from the event will go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a charity Limbaugh has supported since he went national in 1988.
I remember when Roger was getting started on KSDO(?) in the 80s. He's come a long way. Folks think he is boring now should have heard him when he was new at the mike.
Speaking of marriage, what in the world happened to Rush and Marta. They were so close.
there is a time and a place for everything, unfortunately Gulf has now taken it upon himself to educate you and me on virtually every thread and every comment. After a while one's own drum roll for escapades one wishes he was a participant of gets kinda old.......
Funny, but in all the years I have been a member of this site, I have never seen any postings anywhere by legitimate "In country" vets touting their heroics as Mr. Gulf is doing today, ad nauseum I might add.....
By the way, did you know Mr. Gulf is a "war criminal"? You should, he told you over a half dozen times already on this very thread........Impressed?
Grow up, OK?
Go outside. Take a walk. Settle down. Sheesh.

You are still misquoting me, on purpose.
Link to the post that I did this?
AND STILL no anti Kerry post from you.
Just me, not him.
mmmmmm
Dittos on that!!!
I don't know. Perhaps his problems with addiction drove an irreparable wedge between them that they couldn't work through. Just speculation though.
Kindly remove me from your ping list. Thank you
And if it weren't for Rush, I don't know if we would be here talking so freely. He let a lot of us know that we weren't alone. DITTOS Rush.
You're right. You probably couldn't imitate it. :) Hehe!

If you don't know how to link, state the post number
where I said I was either a hero or heroic.
AND still no anti Kerry post from you.

Kindly remove me from your ping list. Thank you.
I already did, the 1st time.
Kindly remove me from your ping list. Thank you.
If I can interrupt everyone's sniping for a moment: You got that right, Becky! Not only was I there last night but my hero Rush read my written question AND my first and last name. I'm going to obtain and frame that page of the transcript. He's a fantastic speaker --- 1 1/2 hours without notes. Anyone who ever gets the chance, go and see him. Now I believe I'll change my tagline
Kindly remove me from your ping list. Thank you.
Maybe so. I know I was shocked when I heard they divorced.
OMG...I am laughing so hard. I love simple and short redundant statements to make a point.
