I've noticed recently that people like Armstrong Williams have been "elevated" to the level of journalist. I suppose it's a convenient label.

"Journalist" is a nice, vague term, that can be narrowed or widened in scope, depending on the goal of the speaker/writer.

The description, " journalist"

1. can be used as a bar to keep out the unwanted,
2. can be used as a bat to slug the disliked.

It's a very handy tool.
