OLYMPIA, Washington (AP) -- Rebellious teenagers may soon have another reason to curse the establishment now that a lawmaker wants to add Washington to the list of states that require parental permission before minors can pierce a body part.
Some professional piercers have taken advantage of loose regulations in more than a dozen states that let youngsters come home with a tongue stud, navel ring or pierced eyebrow without approval from Mom or Dad.
"We have teens coming in here who have issues, their piercings are all infected," said Jacob Willardsen, the main piercer at House of Tattoo in Tacoma. "They're getting it done at another shop or doing it themselves -- either way, it's happening."
State Sen. Pam Roach wants to make sure it doesn't happen anymore.

LMAO! There's something to be said of the title of that article...
Until recently, I had always thought it was the law, but thinking back, I guess my brother did have his ears pierced against my parents' wishes at 17.
So much for sword-fighting...
Law would require parental OK to 'cane' minors?
at least they can still get an abortion without concent...or is that not in washington
Permission slips for piecing....
Abortions for all....
Wow WTF. I don't even think that kids in Washington even have to give parental notification if they have an abortion.
IIRC, no, they don't.
Then again, I doubt that the piercing industry of WA state makes large, regular, political contributions...
does snagging the kid in the lip with a Mepps # 4 fishing lure count?
One of the few things coming out of Washington state that I agree with.
I went to the Veterinarian's office in my home town a few months ago. There was a man, woman and a young boy at the counter. The man and woman were heavily tattooed and body pierced. The young boy who was with them was wearing trousers and shoes and nothing else. I believe that he was eight or nine years old and had a barbed wire cross tattooed on his back and numerous other "illustrations" on the visible parts of his body.
It was unimaginable to me that anyone would have done this to a child. If Washington state manages to put a stop to this kind of crap, more power to them.
