This may have something to do with the quantity of drink taen during the days preceding the game. Several players had to be treated for cramping. Drink has that effect also. I think these guys partied themselves out of a Superbowl win.
"...Donovan was mumbling because he was almost puking."
...and just how would this differ from his normal vocal style? I can hardly understand him on a good day...not that I give a damn about what he has to say, but still...
Hint: Anytime anyone begins a sentence - and an entire line of discussion - with the words "I mean..." or "You know...", you can pretty much guarantee it's going to be lacking substance. This habit has really spread like wildfire in all media lately, but especially sports.
I know - these guys aren't intellectuals...but neither am I. Once I actually heard a football player say "You know Bob - we're just gonna play our game and try and keep them from scoring. If we can control the ball and score more points than them, I think we can win the game."
Damn - how profound. YA THINK?!?!
Next time you hear/see an interview, especially athletes, listen to how many times you hear "I mean..." and "You know...". Rampant - and just plain bad!
...I thought the dog ate his playbook...
We don't care why you lost. Get over it, McNabb, and do it better next time if you want to win. (I didn't care who won, I watched for the halftime show.)
Must have been the Campbell's soup! Ummm Ummm good!
McNabb got absolutely rocked late in the first half -- you could see him get up and shake his jaw with his hand.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find out that he had a concussion or something, and puking later on in the game is completely consistent with that. He obviously was not feeling right in the 4th quarter, and it wasn't just his passes. It was how slowly he was walking to and from the huddle, and he appeared "not well".
Doesn't detract in the least from the Pat's victory, because they were the ones who put the lick on him. But it explains a lot of things as that game was winding down.
Jeez - Some Dynasty! Those Pats were just lucky!
First they played in the AFC Championship Game against a QB with a bad thumb (if the glove don't fit...) and "broken toes" --- now it turns out that Donovan had the pukes!
excuses excuses
Give McNabb credit for hanging in there. Whether or not it was the right thing to do, I don't know. He probably wanted to be in there to help his team and not let them down, but if he was not up to par in the big game, one must weigh that against taking a seat and letting the sub have a try.
That said, New England just won the game. They do what it takes to win (within the rules, of course) and that is what makes champions. Brady and the Pats had the experience going into the game, and it showed. They stuck with their game and did what they had to do.
So New England has the Lombardi Trophy and the World Series Trophy to parade around. Great. But don't let it go to your heads. You're still stuck with sKerry and Tiddy, and Malarkey (Markey). Bunch of 'Rats they are...
Big deal . . . Brady had a 103-degree temperature before destroying the Stillers two weeks ago. Wah wah wah.
See that is why we lost......FredEx was calling the plays!
No knock on McNabb, but I knew the game was over in the 1st Quarter when he spun out of one tackle and ran smack into a blitzing linebacker. No way he could have shook that hit off.
During the AFC Championship game, the Pat's Brady had the flu and a temp. of 103 degrees. You get the big bucks, you play....sick or not. Afterwards, I watched an interview with Brady and thought, hmmm, he sounds really congested. The next day it was reported in The Boston Globe sports section...as I read it while putting it on the floor for my minidoxies to use as wee wee pads....that indeed, Brady had played sick. Interesting that both quarterbacks had to deal with illness.
There's a Sports Illustrated picture from the late 80s of Cade McNown actually puking in the UCLA huddle. Hard to tell if really sick or just too much gatorade; the elimination of which actually feels better.
But either way, I don't believe this for a second. The camera was on McNabb virtually the entire 4th quarter and he looked as normal as he did any other time. Remember that incident they showed on the bench with TO telling him something.
Is it just me, or is your Fabulous No. 5 starting to resemble the namesake of Lincoln Financial Field himself, the Great Emancipator, the ol' railsplitter, Number 16 in your program of United States Presidents, Abraham Lincoln? I saw him in a post-game segment taking off his helmet, and I thought, dang, that looks like the historical character in the black hat and coat in those Lincoln Financial advertisements played incessantly on Fox Sports' NFL presentations!
Have you seen this yet, World Champion New England Patriots/Boston Red Sox fan?
I believe it. I'm no McNabb fan, especially given all his race blather over the past week, but it was quite obvious that something was wrong. He's not a great QB IMO but he's better than what we saw Sunday.
