We have no RIGHT starving anyone to death vegetative (which Terri Schiavo is NOT) or NOT vegetative but badly brain damaged.

When I cared for some patients at 19 I thought this was an obvious possibility and treated vegetative patients with this in mind. At that time, when I mentioned this to friends attending Nursing School they told me the instructors taught them that this was a REAL possibility. I can't believe this issue is being raised as if it's the first time it has occurred to the medical community. It's NOT.

In society's zeal to institute Euthanasia, it's something many of the people who should know better may have forgotten. I am GLAD these experiments are REFRESHING their memories, and educating others and providing evidence for something many doctors and nurses at one time suspected was true.

If you were a little or a lot brain-damaged, your perspective on life would be changed and you would view things differently. I doubt very much, despite what you might now say, you would want to be dead.

None of the people who have awoken from comas said they wished themselves dead or recall wanting to be dead while they were in them. THAT should be enough to give one pause for thought.

What we need is an instrument that can detect evil. Then if we scanned Michael Schiavo, his lawyers and Judge George Greer, the needle would leap clear off the meter.
