Agreed. Doing his shtick for 5 nights, 2-3 hours a week was too much for his support. Hendrie need's only two nights a week and some support staff. Plus, Phil may be blue on the outside, but he's red on the inside.
That is because I received a breaking news email from the owner of the site...which is $36 a year. I didn't renew my subscription because I listen mostly to XM now.
Talking to local folks about how easy it would be to put it back, they suggested that the inspectors and zoning will make it take some time.
Beyond that, I haven't looked into it real close.
That information about the tower to me was from near 3 weeks ago.
I like his show and it's made me split my sides laughing. Unfortunately I have his characters down pat so they're repetitious, boring now.
My favorite is Lloyd Bonafide the Korean war vet

I am a long time admirer of the great George Putnam but I don't recall him ever being on KFI. If he was then it was many years ago.
I don't think they are going to rebuild it.
His shows has been good, but I wonder about his health.
Lately he has ony done some of his three hours live and has played lots of his old historic bits.
Phil does a wicked imitation of Art Bell!
Oh, I don't know if Putnam was ever on KFI, I just wish one of the stations would bring Putnam back...as well as Bob Dornan!
Putnam is an icon in LA!
I was listening to Art Bell this weekend, and someone asked him what he thought of the impersonations, and he said they were pretty good. He said he even gets people fastblasting him asking when General Johnson Jameson is going to be back on the show.
I concur.
Thank you so much for the Ping. Someone said Noorey was retiring. Have you heard that?
I haven't heard that....but who knows. Maybe they were testing that guy out down in Austin the other day...the guy that went on and on about Bohemian Grove.
Pound for pound, Hendrie's show is the best thing going on night time radio. He's smart, provocative, funny 75% of the time he means to be, and the most original thing going on radio. Plus he had the guts to stand up to all his lib-left callers over the Iraq war and the re-election of President Bush.
No, I didn't. Bobby Dooley and his "I'm a gay man and a gay journalist" have to be his best 2 characters.
I think he's very good, but he probably should shift one night to talk radio, the next to his characters.
He's quite brilliant from what I've heard. He's not restricted to just doing bits at all.
Totally! I'm amazed at how he can keep all the voices straight during a skit. The best use of radio since Jean Shepherd. And his ad lib commentaries on the Iraq war and the elections were eloquent.
What happened to KFI's tower?
