Open letter to David Gergen

You were at the Davos session where Eason Jordan reportedly made his inflammatory and false reports about the US military "targetting" journalists. The entire blogosphere knows that. (See, i.e. Hugh Hewitt.com). Jordan has back pedeled, CNN's p r campaign is now changing its story--first they denied it; now they say his explanation wasn't clear enough).. You have an obligation to speak out. And certainly will more publicly be called to do so soon. This story will not die. What are you waiting for? By your silence you are either abetting such conduct or refusing to aid an innocent man.

I really thought this story would die. It still may, but I'm happy to see some people trying to keep it breathing til it gets legs.

However, Gergen never struck me as someone who would ruin a potential connection or job source. There's something about him that makes me think he'd never get involved in something like this.

I hope it gets blown wide open. If CNN's boss says the our troops are murderers, prove it or suffer the consequences of serving his agenda.

Maybe it will teach these dopes not to shoot their mouths off and give aid and comfort to the enemy... Well, in CNN's case they'd have to cease operations.

I agree. He's always above the fray and wanting to "keep it civil", which means Left smearing conservatives without fear. Tough David. Time to stand up.

Gergen is a media whore.
See, Gergen served in a Republican and a Democrat administration and so therefore the scumbags of the socialist "old" media believes that that qualifies him as an "objective" critic of Republicans. You know - - a guy with no axe to grind. He likes that role and won't rock the boat.

Second, the Easongate controversy revolves around Jordan's alleged (since we don't have an original source) use of the word "targeted", his response to Rep. Franks concerning "targeted" vs. "collateral damage" and whether Jordan "pandered" to an anti-American or anti-military sentiment and portion of the audience. This goes directly to Jordan's role as CNN's supra-national diplomat, as Jay Rosen describes it, and the role of journalists to apply the same standards of skepticism (or cynicism) toward their peers as they do toward everyone else. This is why the WEF video is important. It is an original source that everyone can view and judge not only Jordan's comments, but also the reactions of the audience (including journalists) and the subsequent decision by journalists in reporting it - NOT! "There's something about him that makes me think he'd never get involved in something like this."

Go read a biography of Talleyrand, the man who always managed to be on the winning side.

Gergen is an unctuous, oleaginous, piece of sewage.

Regards,

Gergen is the type who would be using the too much iced tea excuse.

From the descriptions I read on National Review Online, David Gergen was the moderator of this discussion panel. The author has a point; Gergen knows what happens and has an obligation to get the truth out.
