Appreciative Kerry lays groundwork for 2008 run

Appreciative Kerry lays groundwork for 2008 run By Andrew Miga Saturday, February 5, 2005

Thanking 1,200 supporters gathered in Boston's Westin Hotel last night, Sen. John F. Kerry [related, bio] joked: ``According to the exit polls, there are 2 million people in this room tonight.''

Kerry, striving to be upbeat as he addressed staffers and campaign volunteers from his failed White House run, was propped up by his Bay State colleague, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy [related, bio].

``This is the first meeting of the Kerry for President Committee 2008,'' Kennedy declared as Kerry and his wife, Teresa, looked on.

In a meeting earlier in the day with Herald editors and reporters, Kennedy predicted Kerry would be an even more formidable candidate if he runs again in four years.

``He's got to make his own judgment,'' Kennedy said. ``He'd be a stronger candidate the next time.''

Kennedy was one of Kerry's strongest boosters in the 2004 campaign, traveling extensively across the country to boost support and raise money for the Democratic nominee.

``I think that John Kerry [related, bio] ran a good campaign,'' Kennedy said. ``President Bush [related, bio] ran a better (one).''

Kennedy blamed the country's skittish mood of ``overwhelming anxiety and fear'' in the wake of the 9/11 attacks for Kerry's loss. ``It was just a difficult thing to kind of break through,'' the senator said.

Democrats must do a better job of conveying their values on issues such as health care and jobs if they want to take back Congress and the White House, Kennedy said.

Try this Senator:

"You get some gin and get some white raisins - and only white raisins - and soak them in the gin for two weeks. Then eat nine of the raisins a day."

There is not the slightest chance Kerry will ever run for Prez again. That dishonorable discharge is going to come to light, and he's not going to want to deal with it.

Probably sKerry propping up The Swimmer.

"This is the first meeting of the Kerry for President Committee 2008," Kennedy declared as Kerry and his wife, Teresa, looked on.

Clearly, The Swimmer is delusional. And, look! TaaaRaaaayZahhhhhh got an overnight pass from the asylum, isn't that nice?

"Kennedy predicted Kerry would be an even more formidable candidate if he runs again in four years."

More formidable than a guy who could take 10 positions on a yes or no question? Now that's saying something.

I am tempted to send him a dollar and a note of support to encourage his 2008 run. If Mama T and Hillary get in a catfight, I'd pay even more for a ringside seat.

This makes me wonder if Teddy is supporting Kerry to make up for his own lost chance to ever become president, you know, much like a father pushes his kid to do things he couldn't accomplish?

I really do not look forward to another election having to listen to JK again.

Well you guys have to listen to some Dim in the next election cycle. I prefer a proven loser to someone who might have a chance.

Kerry's capacity for self-delusion is really remarkable. Maybe he thinks his Vietnam record, his betrayal of his country, and his dishonorable discharge won't matter in four years. But then again, in the circles in which he moves, those items are regarded as a badge of honor.

Well it could be worse. It could be 12 more years of Kerry talking.

That we do. (sigh) I guess they'll always be with us, like taxes, the flu and Paris Hilton.

Well, if he's already campaigning for 08 that'll mean the next four years of his traditional AWOL status in the senate.

That might not be all bad...

What a conceited, in-denial pair of bloviators
