LOL - I bought and read the book ten years ago and it's message was self evident and non offensive - to an objective, reasonable reader. Of course I was labeled as a 'Quasi - Racist' by those with less open minds (The tail end you refer to IMO). This reaction was akin to that afforded Shockley (sp?) when he had the audacity to suggest that people are different and sometimes these differences tend along racial/genetic lines. The horror of such apostasy!

The last two chapters of the Bell Curve where the most incredible, tender and farsighted policy proposals I have ever read. I was in tears.
