(Accused of writing pro-U.N. book after getting Ted Turner Grant)
An NBC correspondent to the U.N. denies a conflict of interest stemming from a grant she received from Ted Turner's United Nations Foundation to help fund a book favorable to the world body.
Among other things, Linda Fasulo's "An Insider's Guide to the U.N." whitewashes U.N. chief Kofi Annan's role in the 1994 Rwanda genocide, charges Cliff Kincaid, editor of Accuracy in Media, which first reported the grant.
AIM, the media watchdog, is calling on Fasulo to reveal how much money she has taken from Turner's foundation.
Kincaid says the financial relationship may explain why she is so favorable to the U.N. in her 2004 book.
Kincaid says has received no answer from e-mails to Fasulo, asking how much money she accepted from the U.N. Foundation, Better World Campaign and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund -- entities she acknowledges helped underwrite the book project in some manner.
Kincaid also asked her: "In the part of your book on Kofi Annan and Rwanda, you ignore the genocide fax from Annan's office showing that he refused authorization for U.N. troops on the ground to prevent genocide. Why did you ignore that?"
Scrutiny of Fasulo's financial ties to the U.N. comes amid reports of controversy over payments made by government agencies to conservative columnists.
Syndicated columnist and radio host Armstrong Williams acknowledges he received $240,000 from the Department of Education to promote the administration's No Child Left Behind Act.
Now we will see what kind of coverage this received in the MSM. They were all over the two who aided and abetted Bush proposals. Will they turn a blind eye toward a lib who supported the UN?
Bump
Last line of story above. So,is the reader to infer that promoting a government program is equal to covering up one of the largest scandals in history??
I suppose she could argue that the title of the book is self-explainatory: "An INSIDERS guide to the U.N."
That is what the msm and the dem party leaders would like you to accept.

OK, NBC's Fasulo whitewashed Kofi Anan's role in the Rwandan genocide, now tell me which one of the NBC reporters was on Saddam's payroll in the oil-for-food scandal?
Might be easier to list the reporters who weren't .....
