Bush approval rating surges up 8% in one week.
The Hedgehog Report ^ | David Wissing

Posted on 02/05/2005 9:24:09 PM PST by Nascardude

Exactly one week ago, on Jabnuary 28th, the daily Rasmussen tracking poll of President Bush’s job approval showed Bush with a negative 46%-52% job approval split. After last weekend’s wildly successful elections ni Iraq and equally successful State of the Union speech, the numbers have turned around completely.

BUSH JOB APPROVAL Approve 54% Disapprove 45% But the Democrats don’t need to worry because they will always be able to claim that Bush is the first President to have a net job loss during his first…what?…that is no longer true either? Oh never mind. Well they will at least have Howard Dean to look up to for the next four years….

Some good news here. Well good news if you're a Republican, which I'm proud to be!! :) Of course if you're a Democrat, anything that's good for the country is bad news for you.

Yes, SOTU and Iraqi election bounce...but we can't forget the mainstream media's daily hammering that accounts for the dip in these ratings.

It's not just a standard SOTU bounce. Pretty much every negative thing that has been said about George W. Bush in the past 4 years was proven to be a lie in the last week.

He ISN'T just the underachieving son of a much greater President. He's visionary, compassionate and pro-active.

He DIDN'T just start some fictitious war for oil and the Iraqi people DON'T hate us and wish they had Saddam back.

The Bush economy is NOT characterized by soup lines and hopeless economic despair.

Bush is NOT bumbling and inarticulate, nor is he an idiot.

The Democrats do NOT have a plan for ANYTHING beyond "we hate George W. Bush". And they can't even point to a very good reason for that. (Their #1 stated reason: "He said he would unite me and yet I still hate him".)

Republicans are NOT a bunch of racists and sexists who want to keep blacks, women and hispanics down, as evidenced by the recent battle to confirm our new Secretary of State and Attorney General.

The list goes on. But basically, any lie that was been said about Bush during the election or the past 4 years can be nuked with some event that happened in January 2005.

Is Bush surging again? Earlier he was sweeping, swelling, swirling, swishing, and undulating. Well, he was probably not swishing as Texans never swish. They swagger, I'm told. But never swish.

All that really goes to show is that you can't ever really believe polls. They are a snapshot of the absolute instant they are taken. By the time you read about a poll, circumstances have changed and the data is probably no longer valid.

I have watched two of his townhall type meetings on Cspan, the ones on SS. He was great, articulate, only got tongue tied in a kind of endearing manner. I think this is a genuine surge. Bush has been lucky with his enemies. They get more shrill, more extreme, more bitter daily. I expect to see more and more, they just can't seem to help themselves. BTW I think we are better, more controlled and more effective haters than they are.

Interesting screen name. Your post appears to be defending the biggest government in the history of the world. Tough to visualize anything smaller about this Government.

Hmmm. Today, on an I-5 overpass here in Bellingham Washington, a group of protestors waved a banner that said "This war is unwinnable!" I was afraid to blast my horn at them for fear they would have taken it to be a sign of support. Where do these twerps come from?!?!?!

Bush has been lucky with his enemies.

I've generally found that the harder you work, the luckier you get. Bush defeated Ann Richards for Texas Governor, when the entire state media machine was pushing for her re-election. He defeated Gore. He defeated Kerry. At some point in time, I think you have to credit something other than luck.

I think some that vote his job approval low are republicans that want him to be more forceful. Up until recently I have always felt he wasn't fighting hard enough from the bully pulpit. Maybe he feels he has the mandate now. He seems to be fighting now.

I think you misunderstood. He has earned in spades {can I say spades or will I be accused of something bad} everything. The man is incredible to me.

What I am saying is that as far as enemies go, his are getting more lunatic by the day.

"Your post appears to be defending the biggest government in the history of the world. Tough to visualize anything smaller about this Government."

When you finally get a real job, you may notice that our federal income taxes are lower.

When you start investing, you may notice that the double tax on dividends is pretty much gone.

When you start your estate planning, you may manage to realize that the estate tax (AKA "death tax") is dead.

And as you retire with your privatized social security, you might even comprehend that the federal share of that program has gotten smaller thanks to President Bush's 2005 SS reforms.

So the federal tax bite is *something* that is smaller about this government, not that you'd know it yet...but maybe someday, you will. I hold out hope for you, regardless.
