NEWARK, N.J. -- Dozens of Honduran women and girls were smuggled into the United States and forced to work at a bar to earn freedom from the traffickers, federal authorities charged.
The women told agents they had expected to work as waitresses in restaurants, but were ordered to drink and dance with men at the El Paisano Bar and Night Club in Union City.
One woman told agents her family had paid $5,000 in Honduras to have her smuggled, but "after she got to the United States, she was told that she owed another $15,000 smuggling fee," according to documents filed in U.S. District Court. One illegal immigrant said she had been trying to pay off her debt for two years.

I think increasing the amount of allotted screened immigrants is preferable to the unknown, which leaves a big hole in our security.
LOL..and if u cant screen the ones that are flooding us now...how do propose to allot those that you will "SCREEN" to make to make it better?....(If u had a leaky gas tank..would knowing how much gas u were losing solve your problem??..)
You answered your own question. LOTS OF PEOPLE WANT TO COME.
Where does it end? We have legal immigration and that's good enough. Numbers larger than what we let in now make it impossible for the nowcomers to assimilate.
Good point. I'm all for it.
Heaven forbid we repeat Elise Isle. Look at all the people we took in that eventually assimilated! It took a few generations to get there.
At this point it is not the immigrants per se that are the problem, it's the power hungry politicians who have worked extra hard to convince these people that they DON'T have to assimilate (Diversity, the lefts form of Godliness) and in doing so you will get extra perks. Useful idiot stuff.
It just seems to me that with some strict real rules and common sense this should be workable
"The way to reduce trafficking in illegal immigrants is to make it easier to immigrate legally."
Let them immigrate legally to Mexico.
"But I can't understand why you object to Oblongata remarks."
Do you know how to do long division? If not use a spreadsheet program on a computer.
Find out the annual amount of money the US Government can allocate to Health Services, etc. Take your population assumptions if you let all these wetbacks in, do the math.
10-4 to that! I am sick of the bots, and I'd name them but I won't, that are for this ridiculous plan Bush has and repeat the same talking points "jobsaamericansdontwant" like mindless bot drones they are.
Can you tell us how many are allowed in legally each year? If not how do you know it's enough?
Fact is that we have illegals because we do not provide a legal way for the number to enter whom we have to have to sustain our economy.
We do NOT need these people to "sustain our economy" or "to dojobsamericanswontdo." Same old propaganda talking points blahblahblah...
Why don't you do the math for us. Start with how much each illegal laborer contributes to our GNP.
Then calculate how much in taxes each business pays that employs illegal aliens. Don't forget ad valorem taxes that support schools and police and hospitals.
And while your at it, you might want to divide the total state and local government expenditures by the number of individuals to determine the tax burden of each individual (over $20,000 last I saw) and then calculate how much the average individual pays (less than $3,000) and then tell us what your point is.
"Many of the Chinese who arrived in the garment factories in the mid-1960s have already worked their way in the managerial and entrepreneurial classes. "There are 500 to 600 Chinese-owned garment companies in New York," notes Chisti. "In 1960, there were just five. They employ 30,000 workers." Their payroll is more than $200 million.
" Anti-immigrant activists would retort, no doubt, that most of those 30,000 jobs go to other immigrants rather than Americans. That's undoubtedly true. But many jobs generated by the garment industry are held by native-born Americans. Packagers, truckers, mid-level managers, and wholesale workers are mostly natives. So are people in countless other jobs that were created by the garment industry, from the assembly-line workers in the plants where sewing machines are built to the pink-collar staffs of the designers who cluster near the garment factories.
" A 1985 Urban Institute study of the garment industry in Los Angeles, the country's second-biggest, concluded that without Mexican immigrants, the city would have lost 50,000 production jobs, 12,000 management jobs, and 25,000 incidental jobs.
Yawn, hey lefty, the topic was illegal immigration.
If you've got a point to make, why don't you get off your lazy ass and post some stats of your own. Come on hot shot, justify your bogus theories yourself.
The fact is, you have nothing to offer here or you would provide the stats yourself. You're full of hot air and something else I won't mention.
Hey that was just in a CSI Miami episode. What did they know and when did they know it?
I heard that crap too.
The vomit came up, but I swallowed it back...drank it like a lib drinking cool-aid.
Bush is not with us on this issue.
Good reply DO, I couldn't stop banging my head on the wall long enough to do so myself. All I was getting was a headache. I can't grasp the OBL thought process. Blackbird.
"I can't grasp the OBL thought process."
Consider yourself blessed.
I, too, am sick and tired of hearing about the jobs that Americans won't do. My teenaged son cannot get a job around here because the foreigners who have taken over the businesses that hire teenagers DO NOT hire Americans. Native Americans need not apply, whether they are White or Black. I don't remember the government asking me my opinion when they opened the floodgates.
