There is prolly an official definition of "fat Tuesday" but the bottom line that I have observed is that it is a mardi gra party of sorts with LOTS OF EATING & DRINKING to make up for the potential "giving up" that some do during lent. You didn't sleep much... I got to bed right after I posted last night & slept til 5 AM. I tend to be very ambitious & productive in early hours (If I can stay away from daggone computer.

at the end with NO spaces put < / a> ... with NO spaces on either side of the "/"

Fat Tuesday is then the same as Pancake Day when you use up your ingredients before Lent. Nowadays for the majority of people just a bit of fun of course as homemom said proper name Shrove Tuesday. We have pancakes races and competitions for tossing pancakes in the UK.

Some people even non religious people do decide to give up something for lent such as drinking alcohol or smoking etc. but really the Shrove Tuesday and lent element has mainly died out.
