It looks petty to EVER take something away after you give it, no matter the circumstances.

Letting the kid hold on to his necklaces and take some pictures does not mean that he "gave" them away.

This isnt mean joe green tossing a dirty jersey away.

In otherwords---the incident actually happened--you just didn't like the interpretation. That the family didn't condemn Culpepper for what he did (no one w/a brain in their shoes would have-as they would have looked greedy and petty for doing so) suddenly changes everything?? How does that work??

"Don't hold your breath waiting.

Merely rhetorical observation - I'd be vacuum-packed before the get their sh!$ square

I noticed that Seifert omitted the name of the offending AP "reporter", Mark Long (AP Sports Writer).

Professional courtesy remains among the jackals. ;-)

Why would you or anyone trash him based on the original article?

At no point did he say "Ok, you can HAVE this jewelery."

It's more like "ok, you can wear this for the rest of the press conference since you like it."

I didn't see a quote afterwards from DC and could tell the reporter was being a fool from the way the story was written.

I am just relating my personal view of the original article. That's all.

good thing I'm not a Libertarian, I'm not sure what I would have done for FR monicker.

People tend to dump on anyone in the spotlight when they get their chance. In general, it usually is not deserved. Sports figures are frequent targets, I've joined in on my share of bashing. Thier offenses are usually minor, isolated, and the years of volunteer work most of them do or their donations made is rarely mentioned.

Cully definitely didn't deserve this. I'm a Viking fan so I figured the report wasn't entirely represented from an unbiased viewpoint. I probably would have been right there piling on if it had been a Packer player.

That portrayal was wrong, no question. But Culpepper should NEVER "give" something that he intends to take back unless right then he indicates it's a joke. I, for one, would never do that.

It wasn't the same, and you know it, nor did DC portray it that way. If he had said at the time, "Here, hold these until the shoot is over, then I'll see what I can do," that would eliminate confusion.

why would a grown man want to wear a $100,000 (it was *70* grand yesterday...) necklace?

For me, it would be to accent my black on black Lambourghini........

Yep, I do. See post #81. Simply cycle that response from now on to whatever you reply with on this thread.

I do believe things are different now than when Limbaugh made that comment. What was McNabb doing at the time? I do not believe at the time he was having the kind of year Manning had this year (I know, nobody ever has) and comparatively speaking at the time, Limbaugh's comments may have been accurate, although ill advised (read "Taboo"...good read)

I'm a die-hard Packer fan and my first reaction was "No, Culpepper's way too classy for that, there was a misunderstanding here." I didn't think that it was erroneous reporting, though.

How hard is it to go somewhere and just write the stuff that actually happened? Yeesh!
