The flight route designation, for future flights on the same route, was renumbered from Flight 93 to Flight 81 in October 2001 out of respect for those who died.

Hijacking Scare Holds Up Two Delta Flights
Friday, February 04, 2005
NEW YORK Two flights were temporarily held up upon landing at New York Citys JFK Airport (search) Friday after a phone call came in about a hijacking, FOX News has confirmed.
A threatening call came in warning of hijackers onboard Delta Flight 119 en route from Paris and originating in Bombay, along with possible problems with Delta Flight 81 en route from Amsterdam. The planes landed about the same time.
Both were apparently cleared for arrival a short time later and their cockpits secured after police checked the situation, FOX confirmed with an aviation source close to the situation.
Early reports suggested "suspicious" activity onboard, but there were few other details immediately available.
FOX News' Catherine Donaldson-Evans and Catherine Herridge contributed to this report.

Two Delta Jetliners Arrive At JFK With Inflight Emergencies
POSTED: 12:35 pm CST February 4, 2005
UPDATED: 1:32 pm CST February 4, 2005
NEW YORK -- Two Delta flights from Europe have landed without incident at Kennedy Airport in New York, after authorities reportedly received telephone threats of a hijacking.
A New York television station, WNBC, reported that Flight 119 from Paris and Flight 81 from Amsterdam were named in separate threats. There was no breach of the cockpits.
A spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration confirmed that there was a hijack threat called in to the National Transportation Safety Board concerning the flight from Paris. She said the plane was isolated in New York, and authorities have questioned the passengers, who've been allowed off the plane.
She said authorities are also questioning passengers on the other flight.
The spokeswoman said Delta reports that both flights were routine.
The situation has been resolved according to Fox.
Hoax
Fox declaring everything is over......move along.
Except for that "inflight emergency" thingie.
Maybe they can trace the perp by looking at Delta website query logs.
An obscure, albeit interesting tidbit.
