Brit provided an interesting quote delivered by Harry Reid in 1999 on FoxNews Sunday...
(Excerpt) Read more at foxnews.com ...
The quote had Reid essentially saying that he supported the idea of taking a small portion of social security funds and allowing private accounts... oh how times change.
Also, on the grapevine Brit had an interesting quote from a FDR speech to the effect of social security should aim to move from government to private run in the future.
Sorry I don't have the exact quotes yet, but like I said watch for the updated grapevine on foxnews.com, these quotes make for some great ammo to hit the Dems with.
this would be great...almost as farasical as boxer questioning Condi!!!
Kewl. Especially FDR's quotes. I see some ads coming down the pike. W will give the rats a little more rope first. Hehehehe.....
Rewound my tape, here's the FDR quotes.
"...voluntary contributory annuities by which individual initiative can increase the annual amounts received in old age."
Brit- adding that government quote..
"....ought ultimately to be supplanted by self-supporting annuity plans."
President Frankline delano Roosevelt
Statement to Congress, Jan. 17, 1935
Well now, I believe this calls for a little exposure...

Item 13
In the important field of security for our old people, it seems necessary to adopt three principles: First, non-contributory old-age pensions for those who are now too old to build up their own insurance. It is, of course, clear that for perhaps thirty years to come funds will have to be provided by the States and the Federal Government to meet these pensions. Second, compulsory contributory annuities which in time will establish a self-supporting system for those now young and for future generations. Third, voluntary contributory annuities by which individual initiative can increase the annual amounts received in old age. It is proposed that the Federal Government assume one-half of the cost of the old-age pension plan, which ought ultimately to be supplanted by self-supporting annuity plans.
Reid has no core belief. I'm sure that he can't remember if he's for apple pie or against it.

OOPS, scratch that one.
I think the Dems just got nailed. :-)
What's more pathetic is the fact Reid and a bunch of other worthless Democrats played to the media for a photo op at FDR's statue, while President Bush was meeting with voters.
ping
Tumbling Tumble-Reid knocks himself out. He coulduh been a contenduh.
Hypocrites and liars.
The end ALWAYS justifies the dirtiest of means.
Brit later played a video of Reid saying it, but of course that was in '99 when Clinton had proposed it ;-)
Oh, man, I love stuff like this.
It always amazes me with these people. They can contradict themselves so many ways and so many times. How do they have any credibilty with the American voter? Here's another Freeper moment. This news will be around the internet in an hour. Chalk up another few thousand/million supporters of Bush's SS plan.
Someone ping me when the link/quote goes up... thanks!!!!! This is just too funny!
That was THEN, this is NOW.
Hey Harry, what changed?
OH, Presidents changed.
