I was doing some surfing at democratic sites and they are all up in arms with Joe about why he would kiss Bush. (I must have missed this last night)
And to top it off, Joe voted for Gonzales today.
Did anyone else see "the kiss"?

I clearly saw it. I remember watching it and seeing the genuine affection between the two men and the first thought that came to mind (about Joe) was "that guy's in the wrong party."
Never happen, but what an ass-kicking jump-ship that would be to bring Joe over.

And for Rice, too.
I'd venture today is the first time any of them have even considered Joe Liebermann in years.
He's not "one of them" now.

Do you really want to associate yourself with those assholes? Come back to the light Joe, you're too good for them.

I forgot about it. I was thinking that there was some kind of personal exchange but couldn't remember what it was. I think that Lieberman had told the president that he would vote for Gonzales. I think that Mary Landrieu also agreed to vote for him last night. I could tell that she was saying something positive, but couldn't tell what it was.

I saw it - and I wasn't surprised. Joe has been supporting the President pretty strongly.
My take: I think Joe sees the implosion coming in the dem camp. I also think he may believe he can restore the dem party to it's former glory. I also believe Joe is well aware that event will not happen tomorrow.

I live in CT and Leiberman is my senator. He is what Democrats were when I was a child in the '50's. He is socially liberal to a reasonable degree. He likes to spend my money more than Republicans generally do. He is not crazy and doesn't make a virtue of treason. I would trust him with the country as president even if I wouldn't vote for him. It's possible to respect his point of view without agreeing with it. He doesn't make me ashamed that he is my senator the way most democrats would. Democrats like, oh say, Chris Dodd my other senator.

I thought he was saying something in his ear.
