The ticket headed by interim Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, a U.S.-backed secular Shiite, trailed second with more than 360,500 votes.... Developing...

Just like U.S. returns - it means nothing until we know where those returns came from.

Judging Iraq's election without this knowledge is like predicting the outcome of the U.S. Presidential election on the basis of Vermont's returns....

As I understand it, the main Shiite group is a coalition of parties, including both secular and religious parties, so it does not necessarily mean a religious gov't.

She's in fourth, so it's a longshot to pull this one out, but they're still counting Al-Keeng Province.
