I am not sure if Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez had been personally sampling his neighbor's cash crop or if he was just plain drunk when he made these comments last month. No politician in their right mind would say such things to a United States Secretary of State with whom his government will have to work over the next four years.
In a response to harsh criticism leveled against his government by Condoleezza Rice during the confirmation hearings, Chavez had the following words for Dr. Rice:
"It seems that she dreams about me. I can invite her on a date with me to see what happens to her with me. She said that she was sad and depressed because of Chavez. Oh, daddy! She should forget me. What bad luck this lady has. I don't want to make that sacrifice for my nation," he said, according to Venezuelan reports." He also called Dr. Rice "illiterate."
This kind of an outburst is below the bellicose rhetoric of even North Korea or other rogue regimes with a propensity for colorful language. And this came from a major oil exporter to the US.
I would consider this statement to be one of the most offensive I have encountered by a head of state. I have not yet heard a response from the State Department but surely the diplomatic fallout will have an impact on our relations with Venezuela. How Chavez expects to work with the US and our State Department over the next four years is beyond me.
Liberals, socialists, and other related vermin are masters of projection.
Chavez is in the driver's seat. He has the oil, Castro for an ally, Columbia in retreat.
Condi will have many more nightmares until this charlatan is overthrown, by his people if possible, by the USA if necessary.
Yeah... if Jimmy Carter has his hand in it... it usually stinks.

You know that our President will not take comments like this lightly. His personal respect for Condi is clearly evident. One way or another, the hammer will come down!
"Ch*nga Chavez and his Ch*ngaderos".
If nothing else the man has no low opinion of himself, although like most who like to brag about their prowess and how good they are, he is probably over compensating for his big 3" of poorly hung!
I'd imagine something like Chavez gets hit by a truck while he's stepping from his shower. Something that wont arouse suspicion.
Funny and insightful!
Sound like a Male Chavez-istic comment needing a blast response from the NOW organization--They should be demanding a retraction and apology from o'l Hugo. Say where are the Nags these days?????
Well .. my daughter-in-law told me she never considered marrying a Hispanic man (she's Hispanic) because they are so arrogant and demeaning to women - even their own wives and family members. My son is not Hispanic.
And .. I blame Chavez's outrageous behavior on the statements by Chris Dodd and some other idiot democrat, who chastized Dr. Rice for not speaking favorably about Chavez. As usual, the democrats favor the tyrants.
Is your sister in law's name "MALINCHE"?
The Indian women that betrayed the Aztec's for the Conquistador Hernan Cortez.
I'm thinking - I'm thinking
"sister-in-law"
I don't know what you're talking about .. I suggest you go back and read my message again.
Hey, Paul. Looks like you hit the nail right on the head. But do you really think President Bush has the will to go after Chavez?
We have an obligation here to come up with a rationale for taking on Chavez; Please give me your best solution...I have a Freeper waiting for an answer. See post #9
Thanks
