I heard on the radio yesterday that the Pope stated long ago he would retire the day Christ steps down from the cross. Ummm.. He hasn't been on the cross for about 200 yrs.He lives!!! He was only on it for a few hours. Then He declared "It is finished", died, was buried and arose on the 3rd day in an uncorruptible body as Firstfruits. If He were still on the cross, then why isn't it mentioned by all those who saw Him after the Resurrection? Or how does He sit at the Right Hand of the Father?

It was merely papal humor.

Catholic teaching is that the 3 hours Christ spent on the Cross are held outside of time and in Eternity. One Sacrifice for ALL Time and Space. The Catholic Mass opens up that Eternal moment for us. Also, Catholic teaching is that Christ in his Incarnate form sits at the right hand of the Father, but he is always at the right of the Father, he never left. He was always in Heaven even when he was on earth.
