The guards it seems were outside the apt building as the PM went in. Tblisi has horrible infrastructure - illegal electrical line hookups hang from streets where people steal electricity and gas is stolen in the same way - using any kind of pipes - even garden hoses. This points to a gas leak accident.

Okay that's a reasonable explanation. Unfortunately times being what they are, a PM should have a better security detail looking out for these things.

I have a hard time believing the house of an elite would be rigged up like you described, and it is kinda unusual for a PRESIDENT to spend the night at the house of a pauper. This ain't Jesus we are talking about.

There was no evidence of foul play, forensic experts said. Tests showed Zhvania's blood contained fatal levels of a substance called carboxihaemoglobin, said Justice Ministry official Levan Samkharauli.

"That means that the cause of death was carbon monoxide gas," he said. A post mortem report is expected on Friday.

Gas poisoning is common in Georgia, mainly caused by the heaters run off gas canisters that people use in winter, when power supplies are erratic.
