TIJUANA An American man and two Iraqis arrested at the Tijuana airport last week have been charged with immigration violations, according to Mexican authorities.
A Mexican federal judge will determine whether to dismiss the charges or proceed with a trial. The men are being held at a state prison in Tijuana.
The three flew to Tijuana from Mexico City Jan. 26 on an Aeromexico flight, but they were stopped by Mexican immigration authorities who inspected their documents, according to Mexican authorities.
The Iraqis later identified as Steven Yohanan Kurkis and Kaml Meti Bashar showed passports from Greece under the names of Nikolaos Skarvelis and Nabil Megalli, according to a news release from the Mexican Attorney General's Office.
The American, Samer Toma Oraha, showed an expired U.S. passport with his name on it, according to the release.
An initial investigation determined that the Iraqi citizens traveled from Greece to Spain and then to Mexico, according to Mexican authorities. Oraha, identified as their contact in Mexico City, was going to take them to the United States for about $10,000 each, according to Mexican authorities.
The Baja California border is a popular crossing point for Iraqi Chaldeans, who typically seek asylum in the United States. It was unclear whether the detained men were Chaldeans. Mexican authorities have been targeting smuggling rings that bring Middle Easterners through the border.

That "dirty bomb in Boston" story turned out to be a hoax.
I know. I just thought it odd that "two Iraqis" turn up on the Mexican border a week after the whole hoax incident involving two Iraqis surfaced.
That's what the sheeple were *told*........however, the sheeple are also *told* no middle easterners are crossing our southern borders illegally.
scares the hell out of me to tell you the truth
A week later ??? Mexico claims they've had these guys since Jan. 26th.
But I'm sure this is just *another* coincidence, ya know all upstanding 'middle easterners' travel with phony documents....../sarcasm
FYI.........another interesting story from south of the border.

HA! How many Criminal Invaders illegally cross each day WITHOUT fanfare or arrest??
Were they going to Boston?
"That "dirty bomb in Boston" story turned out to be a hoax."
As far as the "bomb" part, yes, it seems the coyote was out to get "immigrees" that didn't pay him. Nothing has shown the part about the Iraqi's or the Chinese sneaking into the country was incorrect.
Current polls (3)are still open on FR on this subject.
I find the results of this one interesting. 7.5 % say immigration is not a problem or favor open borders.

We are witnessing just how the STUPID PARTY acquired it's handle...
<< ... Mexico seems to acknowledge that there are smuggling rings that bring 'middle easterners' through our southern border. >>
Siggggggggghhhhhhhhhh -- if only the Canadians would be so candid.
United States for about $10,000 each? For a job to pick lettuce?
How can this be ??? The OBLer's have told us many times that immigration always rates low in any poll......./sarcasm
Even the 'members only' poll on FR, shows a measly 3.4% think immigration is not a *big issue*.

Another good question to add to this news report.
*Maybe* someone will inform the White House (as they did about the 'comic book'), then we can all wait patiently for a reply.
As it should !!
Any chance you hold an 'elected office' in DC ???
NOBODY KNOWS !!
"Although the perceived importance of immigration has increased, it remains near the bottom of a list of issues in terms of the priority the president and Congress should give it, according to the public. "
