PROGRAM -- (Senate - February 01, 2005)
Mr. BROWNBACK. Mr. President, tomorrow the Senate will resume consideration of the nomination of Alberto Gonzales to be Attorney General. A number of colleagues spoke on this nomination today, and we expect a full day of debate tomorrow as well. Under the agreement, we will alternate debate in 1-hour blocks throughout the day. Again, I encourage those Members who wish to speak on the Gonzales nomination to contact the chairman and ranking member of the Judiciary Committee as soon as possible.

I further ask that following the prayer and pledge, the morning hour be deemed expired, the Journal of proceedings be approved to date, the time for the two leaders be reserved, and at 9:30 a.m. the Senate proceed to executive session and resume consideration of the nomination of Alberto Gonzales to be Attorney General, as provided under the previous order; provided that at 2:30 p.m. Senator Byrd be recognized for up to 1 hour.
"Goose-stepping" is yet another buzzword.
People who support abortion and gun-grabbing have no character.
An attorney general must enforce the law. But as you know the laws in this Country are subject to interpretation - both by the courts and the law-enforcement officials entrusted with their execution and the degree to which they are enforced are also.
We haven't been too good lately enforcing our immigration laws have we????????
As for Congress, you can be assured my representatives will hear from me on appointments and as they hear from me regularly on political issues.
So what we have are two Democrat tools outting an alleged Republican tool? LOL These two reporters probably spent 8 years during the Clinton administration asking softball questions.
What I don't understand is that if Bush's plan is not implemented, there will be absolutely nothing done.
Is that what the carpers prefer, nothing? At least it's a step in the right direction.
Thanks, read the next one, ok?
It's hard for President Bush to solve every problem when he's fighting TWO wars....the terrorists and the insurgent Democrats.
I am certain this guy will end up having ties to MoveOn or some other leftist organization.
Brock is on a war path to bring down all conservative in media and print
Betcha we could find a few things in Brock's closet

Then there should be no problem with Gonzalez.
It's the all or nothing crowd
Same as the abortion issue
It is not perfect. However, there are illegal aliens coming in our harbors and from the Candian border. So what do we do? Just close down our nation? Refuse anyone from a different nation? Just ship people out this nation who wasn't born here? Forbid international goods from coming into this nation? Forbid international travel? Basically turn America into an armed camp? Just round people up cause they are hispanic? I agree it is a problem and it is going to take time to solve the problem. Nothing is done overnight.
Yeah, but you wouldn't want to touch them.
Whoops, that WAS my "next One" that you were agreeing with.
That is true.. I'll say it again. The border issue is not going to be sovled over night. It is going to take time. Something will be done about it.
Despite two phone calls to his office requesting an explanatin for his position, I have yet to receive a reply.
Guess if you have a R next to your name on the voting list you can go to hell.
Alan E. Wirzbicki 01: Im pretty psyched for the upcoming election for the Crimson presidency, thank you very much.
Correct. Alberto Gonzalez doesn't fit the mold of pro-abort or gun-grabber. OXENinFla posted a CNN article that refutes your argument in the Senate debate thread yesterday. The headline alleges he supports the AWB, but the meat of the article is 180 degrees out of phase.
AP reporting a vote will be held tomorrow.
