WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Media Matters for America sent a letter yesterday (January 31) to White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan asking him to consider revoking the White House press credentials apparently granted to Jeff Gannon, the Washington bureau chief and White House correspondent for Talon News, a self-proclaimed news organization that in reality is little more than a partisan activist group.

On the heels of the growing scandal surrounding the Bush administration's use of fake "news" reports, the hiring of conservative columnists to promote its policies without public disclosure, and payola to conservative commentators, Media Matters for America suggested that McClellan consider the implications of credentialing a partisan operative disguised as a journalist in the White House press briefings.

Following is the text of the letter Media Matters for America President and CEO David Brock sent to McClellan

Use the plagiarism software that professors employ to check students' termpapers to trace the MediaMatters press releases during the campaign directly into the words and stories that quickly appeared in the MSM. I've informally traced several. IT'S A MAJOR EXPOSE TO BE HAD of the mimeo machine that much of the MSM is for the DNC/Kerry/Soros campaign.

"Media Matters for America suggested that McClellan consider the implications of credentialing a partisan operative disguised as a journalist in the White House press briefings."

LOL, as if 90% of the other reporters who have White House credentials aren't partisan leftist operatives disguised as journalist who attend the White House press briefings?

ROFLMAO, I bet Media Matters thinks Helen Thomas is fair and balanced :-)

From Media Matters Website:

Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media. Conservative misinformation is defined as news or commentary presented in the media that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda.

For the first time, Media Matters for America has put in place a system to monitor the media for conservative misinformation -- every day, in real time -- in 2004 and beyond.

and payola to conservative commentators

A group that issues a press release with the word "payola" in it wants to be taken seriously? I can't seriously think of the last time I used that word, but I bet it was sometime before I entered high school.

Get bent, Brock.

Limbaugh's talking about this now, and having a lot of fun at the MSM's expense.

When I vist DU, they can't stop talking about the VWRC in the media; Fox and Murdoch. How they own ^all^ the propaganda tools and the left (well, the way-far-out left) has no voice in the MSM. The VWRC controls it all!

Now, this one correspondent needs to get tossed from the WH press corps so that...what?...the other VWRC reporters can ask questions? Wassupwiddat?

Doesn't saying things like "softball questions during a contentious press briefing" just indicate that *their* ideologues and sycophants are actually the rest of the corps?

Democrats: Being consistent in their inconsistencies.
