I thought the U.N. had just concluded there was no genocide in that country so what do they need the troops for?

Annan? Sudan? Peacekeepers?

What is this bottom-feeder trying to do now? Make the UN look like it has some credible objective? (bucket please)

Wouldn't it just be cheaper to nuke Khartoum? At least the UN would have solved a problem unlike the 44 years of continuous civil war in the Congo.

...Annan on Tuesday called for deploying 10,130 peacekeepers to Sudan...

10,130??...Why not 10,134 or 10,129?? I mean, when there is no genocide and it's just "people in the country of sudan dealing with their infrastructure", why not kofi go there himself and iron out their differences, being the world's leading statesman and all....What a ignoranimus. Puke on my keyboard now...I'm billing the UN for cleanup.

What a wondeful opportunity for 'old europe' to show us how these interventions should be done. A nice small force requirement, fully sanctioned by the UN. Obviously the project will not need our help if its left in the capable hands of France, Germany and Belgium.

Ratification opens the way for a committee to form to draft a provisional constitution for a six-year interim period leading up to a referendum on independence for the south.
