US GI hostage story and photo faked; MSM falls for it--again
Looks like this was a fake, now that we've seen the photo, and kudos are due to A Small Victory, Wizbang and Free Republic for calling it.
It looks like this was a GI Joe-type doll on sale on the internet. Note the face, plus the gun and the fact that you don't see anyone's hands in the photo.
In addition, the Pentagon has verified that no soldiers are missing presently.
Score another one for the new media, as the MSM gets scammed again.

The Arabs would probably not be aware of Americana like GI Joe - it is an expensive action figure not found in that part of the world???Scrolling across Fox News screen this morning was a statement from the doll's manufacturer that the doll was primarily sold in Kuwait.

No, it was the work of that usurper Serpentor. Cobra Commander should bring that freak to the woodshed.
And get your metal paws off of the Baroness!

I'm gonna miss Dan Blather. Was it his report? Before you start blaming Dan, shouldn't you be more concerned about the fate of the doll?

This wasn't terrorists - the website is registered to a Dallas entity. It had to be some bored but amusing wiseass out to have fun with the MSM.

What kind of weapon is that supposed to be? It appears to be taken from some other toy soldier. Weapons smuggling via Mattel.

I wonder if they will report that GI Joe, after returning from Nam, found his wife Barbi in the Malibu Dream House with Ken. GI Joe, suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, broke in and beat Ken into a pulp. Then slapped Barbi around and had his way with her and then stole her pink Corvette.
At least that is what happened to my GI Joe.
Oh yea, he somehow ended up battleing some "Damn Dirty Apes" from my Planet of the Apes Action figure set also.
ABC, Boston Globe, CBS; I will be happy to offer my comments about this new crisis.

"When my teenage son saw the picture of the doll captured yesterday (before he knew it was a fake) he said that doesn't look real."
I had the same experience passing the pic around at work. My co-workers aren't media hounds, so they won't know its a hoax until CNN reports it some time later today(?). But to a man (and woman), every one of them thought something was fishy about the pic.
Now what does that say about the MSM? How many AP affiliates are there? Hundreds? You mean to tell me that not *one* person in the MSM said "waitaminute...this looks hokey". LOL. And they wonder why no one trusts them...

But has anyone been able to confirm if these scumbags actually did kidnap a doll and if they actually are going to behead it? I think going after our toys is a new low, even for them.
