Grab a copy of Moslems, their beliefs, practices and politics by Gabriel Oussani and Hilaire Belloc. A warning from the past.
As far as I know there are no other versions of the Qu'ran permitted.
Yes, there is one Arabic version of the Quran. But there are various translations of it. I've read 4.
One version I've read is nonterroristic. This *seems* to be the version Bush makes his peaceful comments from.
I assume this is for PsyOps and rebuilding of Iraq and Afghanistan. (and who ever else is on deck).
If there isn't hope for a peaceful Islam, why are we rebuilding Afghanistand and Iraq? Our troops that are there seem to support our efforts.
Thoughts?
There are many peoples in the Mideast and South Asia. Jews, Turks, Kurds, Lur, Armenians, Persians, Baluch, Hazara, Tajik, Pashtun and Turkoman. And the Uzbek; probably lots more. They had at one time their own cultures and beliefs. Monotheism of the Zoroaster, pagans and polytheists, Judaism (in Khazaria, a Jewish nation, in the Caucasus) and Christianity, throughout the region, especially in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Jordan and Egypt.
Islam, the Arab religion, founded by Muhammad on Jewish teachings, some Christian heresy and paganism enslaved the people and robbed them of their culture.
All borders of Islam are at war.
If there isn't hope for a peaceful Islam, why are we rebuilding Afghanistand and Iraq? Our troops that are there seem to support our efforts. Thoughts? Simply stated, we're trying to get them to give up the more authoritarian and aggressive aspects of their religion. Much like the stigma of illegitimacy in the west, it's still official policy, but it doesn't have any legal remedy.
This isn't as far fetched as it might seem as much of their grievance with the west stems from the proliferation of aspects of western culture that have already made headway in their societies. They like our stuff, but the reason we have stuff hasn't sunk in; mainly, that we don't live our day-to-day lives like they do.
