Get a rope.

Whereas, President Ronald Wilson Reagan redefined the Republican Party as a vessel of common sense conservatism, moral responsibility, respect for liberty, and opposition to the wasteful tyranny of an excessive federal government,
Whereas, Reagan's 1980 election breathed new life into the Republican Party, thus ensuring its continuous and successful emergence in Texas and the nation.
Whereas, to Ronald Reagan's credit and as a direct result of his presidency, freedom now reigns supreme for hundreds of millions of people who were once condemned to a life of misery and oppression under the boot heals of communism and other failed socialist ideologies propagated both then and now by the forces of the radical left.
Whereas, Ronald Reagan's legacy of traditional American values, respect for human life, opposition to the tyranny of centralized government both domestic and foreign, and his pursuit of liberty and freedom against oppressors, despots, scoundrels, thieves, and liberals of all form should and will endear him to Americans as the greatest president of the 20th century and to the world as a leader for all time.
And whereas, Ronald Reagan, though he has now passed from his earthly existence and into the next, provides a legacy worthy of our continual remembrance and celebration,
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT the Republican Party of Harris County, of the State of Texas, hereby officially renames its primary annual commemorative celebration, as presently held on or about the months of February and March of each year, will henceforth and in perpetuity be known as the "Ronald Reagan Day Dinner and Celebration."
AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the Republican Party of Harris County, of the State of Texas, will publicly announce the said renaming by the 30th day of its formal adoption under the bylaws of The Harris County Republican Party's Executive Committee.
Adopted by the HCRP Executive Committee on December 6, 2004
Neocon Federates are trashing Lincoln again. Bah.
Hopefully, the resolution showed more tact and diplomacy than actually using the phrase "leftist scum". While appropos and evocative, it can be seen as a bit juvenile at an organizational level.
On the other hand, I think Ronaldus Magnus deserves an equal place at the table with ol' Abe. Abe was a founding father of the party, Reagan brought it back from oblivion.
I wonder what Kristen Breitweiser thinks about this issue?
Don't worry. It didn't use the word scum. The resolution is posted above
Get over yourself. There's not one word anywhere in it that "trashes" Lincoln. It's a resolution honoring Ronald Reagan, who in case you haven't noticed died last year!
Or do you have a problem renaming this event in his honor? If so allow me to suggest that you rejoin your Reagan-hating DUmmy friends over at DU.
I understand that the GOP in Jeff Davis County are still throwing a Lincoln Day Dinner. And I wonder if the people in Lincoln, Tx. will keep the name the same, too?
Here's the screen capture of the attempt to change the calendar listing without Executive Committee approval. It was made when they were changing it back to Reagan Day after a precinct chair publicized it, so both are listed.
Lincoln, TX was named after John A. Lincoln, an early settler there. http://www.tsha.utexas.edu/handbook/online/articles/view/LL/hll43.html
Texas ping!
Who cares? The question was whether they will be having a Lincoln Day Dinner or not.
Georgia BUMP! God bless Ronald W. Reagan.
Renaming it after both in future years has been discussed, but Reagan Day was the Executive Committee's decision this year and the Chairman does not have the right to unilaterally overrule their decision.
Cities don't have Republican Party organizations in Texas. It's all at the county level.
Notice the Wlat Brigade's reaction to this whole thing. The resolution itself says absolutely nothing about Lincoln and is all about honoring Reagan in the year of his passing. Yet they could care less about Reagan and all they have to say is over Lincoln! These people are obsessed!
