SEN. KERRY: I lost, Tim, to an incumbent president by a closer margin than an incumbent president has ever won re-election before in the history of the country, and if you add up the popular vote in the battleground states, I won the popular vote in the battleground states by two percentage points. We just didn't distribute it correctly in Ohio.

Kerry is incorrect. If you add up the votes Kerry got in the 17 battleground states (AZ AR CO FL IA ME MI MN MO NV NH NM OH OR PA WA WV & WI), Kerry got 22,977,886 votes (or 49.4% excluding 3rd party candidates). In the same 17 battleground states, Bush got 23,445,587 votes (or 50.6% excluding 3rd party candidates).
"Battleground states" as determined by TIME Magazine
Election results added up from CNN.
Perhaps Kerry was counting New Jersey and Hawaii as "Battleground states."

Kerry is still trying to re-slice the baloney. Each slice gets thinner and thinner. I can already see through it.

Ha, that's exactly what came to my mind when I heard him say it on MTP.
To: tellw
I would suspect that he's labeling every state he won as a battleground state, and those he lost are right wing nut states.

I wonder what Kerry's screen name is over at the DU.
He would fit right in with the reality challenged nutjobs over there.

He also won the homosexual vote, the baby killers vote, the great unwashed vote, incarcerated vote, etc...
What's the point to his insipid rambling? His only presence on that show on that day can only be attributed to being on-air just in case there was problem with the Iraqi election, which there wasn't.

Ha, ha. Another Gore. Can't get over that he lost. I can understand Gore's psychosis a little bit better. He did lose by a very close margin and he won the popular vote. Well, maybe Gore and Kerry can start a support group--The Democrat Presidential Losers Club. They can have role playing--what I would do as president.

The problem with Democrats is the idea that they think they can "distribute the votes correctly." You do have to admit that they seem to have "distributed them correctly" in Washington state.
