Senate has just started debate on Gonzales nomination for AG..Spector is leading off..he's just awful..not sure if he's speaking for or against the nomination..Debate is supposed to end today, with a vote also today...
Jay Rockefeller's ex-brother-in-law spent most of his own money to get elected. Hopefully this moron will be voted out next term.
We don't, actually. They used to have to vote themselves raises. Then they tried to get automatic raises voted into law. The public went nuts. So they waited a bit and Dick Gephardt slipped it through before it could get anyone's attention. My congress critter at the time.
Hope he will go on
Spector actually did a pretty good job of refuting the Democrat opposition to Gonzales, he even quoted the positive remarks that the Democrats had each made. He would have been fine if he hadn't decided to repeat most of his argument in the summation.
Durbin is doing a crumby job. He had a hard time getting started after Specter had just debunked the whole Democrat argument. But now Durbin is hitting his stride, accusing Gonzales of participation in torture. Yawn!
This is Mark Dayton, not Durbin.
"Thank you and good night."
I think people like Dayton and Kennedy enjoy talking about this stuff. JMHO
It is only out of a deep concern for our military. Feh.
Oh geeeeze. lol. Can I borrow that and post it on the original GI Joe thread? I've emailed the link for that thread to a lot of friends just to scroll through and look at the pictures.
They talk just to hear themselves speak. Neither one makes a lick of sense.
Help yourself.
:-)
Thank God Brit Hume's show is almost on. I'm about ready to ditch Dayton.
Danke
Me, too. I think I will switch to Brit and pour myself a a second martini.
Dang! We should have gotten together - we could have hit Clinton's office, Boxer's office and finished off whacking Kerry and Schumer on the nose. What fun that would have been.
Former IL gov and 9/11 Commissioner Big Jim Thompson was two rows up on my flight from DC to Chicago. I started to go up and tell him how much I appreciated his slapping Richard Ben Veniste's ears during the 9/11 Commission hearings and his kindness to Condoleeza Rice. But then all I could think of was how the Commission refused to dump Gorelick and that they were wrong to suggest another level of bureacracy in an end all-be all single security chief. I figured I'd lay off him since I couldn't say a whole lot that was nice!
I didn't know Gephardt (that miserable failure) did that. Last I knew they voted in their own raises. That makes me even madder that it is now "automatic."
Brit is going to do the toy soldier story. ;)
You can trust me on this. He worked across the street from me before he went to congress. I watched his every slippery move.
