Sen. Clinton passes out during speech
BUFFALO, N.Y. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton fainted Monday during a speech on Social Security after complaining of flulike symptoms.
She received medical attention at the scene and went on to give another speech in the afternoon.
Clinton aides said doctors thought she had a stomach virus. She fell ill about five minutes into her lunchtime speech, said Erie County Democratic Chairman Len Lenihan, who was at the Women's TAP fund-raiser at a private club.
Clinton left the podium and continued speaking from a chair, then said she needed a break and left the room, Lenihan said. She returned to the podium a short time later but fainted before resuming her speech.
The room was cleared, and Clinton was checked by a doctor who attended the event.
Clinton, 57, was smiling when she walked out of the club, general manager Vincent Tracy said.
Later Monday, she delivered a speech about health care at Canisius College. Clinton was to return to Washington after the speech.
During an earlier editorial board meeting Monday at The Buffalo News, Clinton complained about suffering from a flulike bug that affected several of her staff members during a weekend retreat in Westchester County, where she lives.
Her brains were producing more lies than her mouth could deliver, resulting in a synapse backlog and reboot. While she was passed out someone should have inked her finger in red.
Rush said it best, yesterday.
I am a real compazine champion. You've gotta really get a fistful up your arss or a mega I.V. overdose to pass out. I'd find it difficult to cram enough up your butt to take you down.
And for a brief but fleeting moment there was hope...
She got weak kneed when she realized the entire audience was dining on liver with favre beans and a nice chianti. She needed to get an exit fast.............
I remember faking illness as a child. My mom called my bluff, and took me to the doctor. The doctor said (drumroll please), "stomach virus."
Of course, no antibiotics for a virus. Just rest and plenty of liquids.
I knew the doctor was lying. I was about 12, and it was quite a revelation to me.
