"Then I'm unlucky, because when I go to MSN.COM "
That is funny. Its working great for me.
I entered "what is the population of Germany" at msn and it came up straight away with:
"Germany: Population, total: 82,424,609"
I asked :"German GDP"
and it swiftly came up with:
"Answer: Germany: GDP (gross domestic product): 1,984,094,960,240 U.S. dollars"
I have been having a lot of fun using msn this morning.
You keep having problems with msn search? Strange indeed.

"Google wins"
Yeah?
Tell me, how many of those 20 million results did you go through this morning?
I need at most the top 100 or so relevant realists from any search.
The rest is chaff as far as I am concerned.
Google wins nothing.
To: KwasiOwusu
Using the search is not a problem (and I have not complained of any!!).
There must be some sort of background filter that determines that I am in Switzerland and sends me automatically to the beta (will most likely be corrected when the Swiss servers are changed over).
I have overcome this by going directly to search.msn.com. I do not get redirected when querying from there.

"Microsoft has thrown down its guantlet for Search about 10 times now... and they always land with a unimpressive thud."
Is that what the Netscape people said too?
To: Smedley
What I hate about Google is that on some days EVERY SEARCH has a link to some sales site, e.g., ebay, in the top 5 hits. Not only that, but 99.99% of the eBay auctions that it links to have already expired. Google has become nothing but a mechanism to deliver advertisements to your computer, and the MS search engine will do just the same.

Mine works fine...but I do know how to use it too.

When you only have to pieces of software to run, it's bound to be faster?

"Free Republic" Search Results:
It takes time to populate a data base.
Will be interesting to see if the number changes with time?
To: KwasiOwusu
Fun...
I often look for sites located near me.
The search provides a "near me" button which the user can seed with a location to search in and around....pretty cool
To: KwasiOwusu
Well, golly, gee. Thanks for the civics lesson...I had no idea....being born and educated here in America. And you even think its "fine" ...that even makes me feel lots better about it, now that I know you approve....NOT!

Agree.
I am finding the "near me" button very useful for my local searches here in New York too.
And for the most part, it works.

I neither "approve, "disapprove" or care in the least what search engine you use.
It's of no relevance to me whatsoever.
Everyone can and will use whatever search engine they want, and the market is going to decide the eventual winner, like most things.
Naturally I am going to bet on Microsoft.

Good bye and good riddance. How old are you, Little Precious?

Don't know, but microsoft's track record of taking over industies is not without failures, and a decade of failure in search puts MS in the search arena equivalent to MS in the personal finance arena.
Quicken still beats MS Money hands down... and thats even after MS got to see every single piece of internal info of quickens back when they were going to buy them out....
With MS history speaks more than anything else, and in this arena, they have a 10 year track record of failure, in spite of trying their darndest not to.
Google has rested on its luarels particularly in traditional searching, but even so, MS is so far behind the curve, I"m not sweating bullets thinking MS is gonna be the next google.
To: KwasiOwusu
Oh, man. I can't believe I agree with you. Don't tell anyone. Personally, after Google started pulling all their leftist crap like recognizing Ray Charles Birthday (nothing wrong with that, I thought it was great), but then ignoring Veterans Day, making the "I feel lucky" link for "moron" to a biography of George Bush, I'm ready to see the dark side known as Microsoft take them down at the ankles.

"Care to comment on the results??" Nope.
Its not relevant to my msn search from msn.com.
Well, AAE, I think this comment tells us what we thought, eh?

Microsoft just overtook Real Networks in media player use on the internet last year, plus Microsoft took out Palm in the PDA's quarter before last.
We haven't even talked about Netscape.
The loading search engine has changed lots of times, Yahoo, Alta Vista, Goto.com etc etc have all led at one time or the other.
Plus both msn and yahoo have already started to gain market share from Google, according to this very article.
Over the long term, I am going to back Microsoft on this one.
In fact I';; bet that even in a year's time, Microsoft will have a higher market share than they have today.

"How old are you, Little Precious?"
You should be more worried about your mental age.
From your mindless ramblings so far, you really do sound like a retarded 5 year old.
But then you know that already.
BTW, you gotta stop playing with daddy's computer ok?
He may hold off on your meds again if you don't.
Now then, that's much better isn't it?
Any more inane, brainless nonsense from you?
