Rush Limbaugh: Incoherent Democrats Lose Their Second Election in the Last Three Months
RushLimbaugh.com ^ | 1/31/05 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 01/31/2005 6:22:08 PM PST by wagglebee

I come to the Golden EIB Microphone today, ladies and gentlemen, with just an effervescing and bubbling joy and happiness and pride knowing full well that some in America are devastated today because the Democrats have lost their second election in three months. The Democratic Party lost its second election in three months yesterday in Iraq. There is no question that the sentiments of the leadership of the Democratic Party were with the terrorists and the insurgents who sought to undermine yesterday's election in Iraq. Once again, the American left, much of the mainstream media, the liberal wing of the Democrat Party, and all of the so-called elite intelligentsia has been shocked by the mind-set of free people. They continually are shocked by the mind-set of free people in the United States of America. They are shocked by the expression of the people of Iraq yesterday. But, look, liberals, don't lose heart out there. By the way, welcome, folks. It's Rush Limbaugh program. Here we are, the EIB Network, a full week of broadcast excellence underway officially now, and if you want to be on the program today, the number to call, 800-282-2882.

There is something interesting going on out there. I spent some time on the blogosphere today -- or in the blogosphere, whatever the right preposition is. On or in, whatever it is, I was there. You know, the left blogosphere as well, some of the right-wing bloggers. But no longer, if you can form a general opinion about this, no longer is there any temptation to agree with what leading Democrats are saying, be it Joe Biden, be it John Kerry, be it Ted Kennedy, Howard Dean or whoever, people are just trying to figure out their motivation. There's not even a contest for ideas. Their participation in the arena of ideas is not even a competition anymore. It's become a circus act and people are trying to figure out their motivation. "Why are they doing this?" It's not, "Do they have a point? Maybe we should give them some consideration." This is lunacy. Why are they doing this? And so the theories mount. "Well, you know..." There's two theories. Let me just run them by you, two theories that explain the Democratic Party today. One is, they've gone back and they've studied Newt and the Republicans from 1994 and, "Okay, how did Newt pull this off?" He did it by constantly criticizing Clinton. That's what they have concluded, and they also, ladies and gentlemen, seek to defeat social security the same way. We talked about this, the way they think Newt and everybody beat Hillary's health care plan. They're so off base on that.

I'll go into detail about all of this as the program unfolds here, just setting the general themes for you here. The first theory is that they just think it's nothing but steady, solid criticism of Clinton that is what enabled the Republicans to take the House and create in majority and so they're doing that. The second theory is that it's just fund-raising. That they're just out there fund-raising. The next elections are two years off, four years off and they'll fix all this damage they're doing, but right now there's too much money to be raised. Ted Kennedy can't be as stupid as he looked last week with this near treasonous speech. John Kerry cannot be as stupid as he was on Meet the Press yesterday. I disagree with both of those, by the way. I think they are as stupid or as out of touch or as elitist or as insulated from reality as anybody in this country ever has been, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Okay, they're not that stupid, then why are they doing it? Why are they setting themselves up? Kerry and Kennedy both had to know that they ran big risks making the remarks they made. Well, Kerry in booking his Meet the Press appearance yesterday. There's only one reason he did that, by the way. You can speculate all you want, "Why did Kerry...?"

Because he thought he would be appearing on a program on a day the Iraqi elections had failed, that the insurgents had won, and he would be able to celebrate the defeat of the George Bush policy on Meet the Press yesterday. That's why Kerry booked it, and that's why when it didn't go that way he ended up saying some of the stupidest, dumbest things that remind everybody in this country why we are damn lucky he did not win the election and is not president today. So if they're not this stupid, then there's got to be a reason that they are acting it, and it is to raise money. This is the theory that's going around, that the left-wing base, the kook Democrat base is so kooky that they just hate Bush so much that all they need to do is hear anybody of power in the party say the same things that they're thinking, and they'll send the money. The model for this is Howard Dean. The theory is they're trying to raise money off of the Internet. Then today you had Dingy Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi go out there with a prebuttal to the president's State of the Union speech in which they made total arses of themselves. They just looked like absolute children who have not gotten their way in three years. It's the most amazing thing to watch. We are witnessing daily the implosion of the Democratic Party done from within, and I am hard-pressed to understand why anybody is still afraid of these people.

Now, I was in Orlando Friday night. I didn't say any of this publicly. This was a closed speech I made. It was a speech to the Council on National Policy and I went up there, I was the keynoter and the headliner for this Friday night. A lot of conservative leaders were there. I'm not going to mention any names, but three of them found me where I was hiding before my speech in the greenroom, and they came back, and I have to tell you. I don't mean this to be critical of them, I said this to them, and I said this in my remarks to the august group of 500 people. I was struck by how pessimistic they were. I'm sitting backstage. I'm all prepared to go out and give my usual uplifting, optimistic review of things, and they came backstage, they're worried that the left is going to end up skunking us and winning and beating us at our own game. They're worried that the Democrats are going to pull off this strategy of defeating Social Security by copying what Newt did, and they're worried about Iraq. It wasn't going to go well -- and I just fired back.

I said, "You know, you guys, I think you've been in Washington too long. You know, you're hanging around with a culture of people that's been out of power for 40 years, well, been in power for 10 or 12 now but you've got to change your mind-set on some of this stuff. I mean, it's okay to be cautious and okay to have consideration for, you know, what could go wrong and to realize the left is still there; they're not going to go away, but there's no sense in being pessimistic here whatsoever." So I went out, gave my speech, and when it was over they were escorting me, the organizers were escorting me back to my stretch limo -- which I didn't order. They just did that on their own to take me home. It was the biggest stretch limo I've ever been in, it had two air-conditioning controls for the back. Two area codes for the phone back there, so I'm being escorted out, and one of them says, "Thank you so much for being optimistic. Thank you so much. This group needed to hear this so much." Apparently their meetings last week were filled with the potential negatives that await down the line, and I mentioned a couple that I think have a possibility of derailing the so-called Republican conservative majority and that's illegal immigration.

I'm going to get into all of this in greater detail as the program unfolds. But they also told me Dick Morris had spoken to the group I guess the day before and he made the sound like Hillary can't lose unless the Republican nominate Condoleezza Rice, and there were people were believing that. And like I told them from the podium: "I'm not a political scientist in the sense that you all are, but I have to tell you that you might want to get out of Washington a little bit. It's not this bad out there. People are actually feeling hunky-dory and I gave them the story that I told you all about on Friday." I had a number of people calling here about Ted Kennedy's speech. They weren't afraid anymore of what he was saying was going to persuade anybody. They weren't afraid the press was going to pick it up and amplify it. They were just mad. Ten or fifteen years ago people would be scared to death at that speech because they knew the press was going to amplify it. There wasn't a loyal opposition that had taken root by then. They were afraid that the American people would have been persuaded by it. Today it's a different story. People laugh a Ted Kennedy. He's a buffoon. People use the word treasonous and treasonous associated with his speech. So there is no more fear. I mean, there may be residues of it out there, residual fear simply born of experience and memory, but the overall gut-check reaction to people like Kerry and Dingy Harry and Kennedy is just anger now and perplexity.

They look at this and they don't understand what these people are trying to do. I must say it appears suicidal. Everything they do is suicidal. I mean, for example, Iraq. They kept raising the bar in Iraq. First we couldn't win that. "We're not going to win. They're far more adept at fighting in the desert than we are. Our troops aren't prepared. It's a volunteer army." We weren't going to win. Then we weren't going to win easily. Then we didn't have enough supplies. Then we didn't find weapons of mass destruction. Then we didn't have a postwar plan. Then we didn't have a plan for the peace. Then we didn't have a coalition. Then the United Nations, France and Germany weren't there. Then we didn't have enough up-armored Humvees. Then we torture and then the election are only a start. It doesn't really count until we see who won and can there be any governing. I tell you, folks, if you want to go ahead and stay mired in utter doom and gloom and pessimism, then join the Democrats. You know, it's not that I'm just an optimistic person by nature. I'm not always optimistic. I mean, I'm a realist. I realize negative, bad things when they're on the horizon, but I can't relate to being a Democrat today. I cannot relate to the constant doom and gloom and pessimism that these people seem to revel in. It seems to be their natural state of existence like they don't want to be anything else, and when I say to you the Democrats lost their second election in three months, I mean every word of it, and I'm not trying to be funny. They lost this election just as they lost the election last November. The thing that they wanted to happen the least yesterday happened.

They didn't want this election to go well. I've got audio sound bites to back this up and I'm sure you've read all over the papers today or Internet, wherever you go, of all the media expressing shock and surprise that this turnout was so high, and that there was as little violence as there was, and that there were so few deaths compared to what they all expected. Well, who are these people to be setting the standards of expectation? They look out across the horizon and they see nuclear warheads going off. They see doom and gloom. They see utter disappointment everywhere they look and they have been setting this up. The thing is, they actually believe that. They were genuinely stunned yesterday. Even the ones who were there, the ones closest to it who should have gotten some idea what was going to happen. The mood of the people of Iraq didn't just show up yesterday. The mood of the people of Iraq to have this turnout yesterday has to have been in place for months. These people are over there and they can't find it, they don't want to find it. They don't want to find out what the people of Iraq really want. They don't want to find out what the people of Iraq really think because they don't care what the people of Iraq really want. They don't want that. They want what they want, the American left and most of the American media -- and they didn't get it yesterday. And to our great benefit, they're not going to slink away and try to figure out where they went wrong and fix it.

They're going to continue with their obstinate, "To hell with you! We're going to be as negative as we can. We're going to be who we are. We're going to finally find a way to bring you and Iraq down, Mr. President." I mean, they align themselves with whatever enemy Bush has. They hate Bush so much, if bin Laden hates Bush, bin Laden is a good guy. The insurgents hate Bush so much, they hate Bush, fine. We're going to side with the insurgents -- the terrorists, if you will, and, of course, here's Barbara Boxer, while people... By the way, do you know that suicide bomber that was blown up yesterday was a Down's Syndrome child? The insurgents sent out a Down's syndrome child as a suicide bomber. That's what the American left sides with. That's who the American left sided with and has been siding with throughout this entire campaign in Iraq, ever since the invasion started in 2002, 2003. So, make no mistake about it, here's Barbara Boxer out there wailing and whining and moaning about all of the hardships. "People in Ohio and Florida had to endure by standing in line to wait hours to vote!" The Iraqis braved death and they had a turnout that exceeded ours in November. Seventy-two percent, something like that, is the number. Ninety-five percent in certain places in Iraq. Will the legacy media run pictures of Iraqis dancing in the streets? Will they run pictures of people lining up to vote including women just as in great a number percentage-wise as happened in Afghanistan? Will they show us these pictures as often and as frequently as they showed us the pictures from Abu Ghraib? Don't count on it.

By the way, folks, I have to tell you, I don't agree with the people who think that the position the Democrats are taking is primarily due to fund-raising. It may be a part it, since politicians are always fund-raising. I think it's who they are, folks. I think it's who they are. I think this is who they've always been particularly in their modern incarnation, and they're so frustrated they're not hiding it anymore. This is who they are. They side with the enemies of George W. Bush. Bush is the enemy to them just as much as bin Laden is the enemy to us, and they look at this election yesterday as an utter defeat -- and, yeah, they've got some kooks that make up their mainstream base that will send them money when they say this, but they're saying this with passion, believability. Get this. Dingy Harry, Dingy Harry Reid, the Senate Democrat leader, minority leader and Nancy Pelosi, they had their little prebuttal to the president's State of the Union today. They're doing a prebuttal and then some Democrat will be assigned the unfortunate task of responding to the president's State of the Union address. I want you to listen to Dingy Harry today at the National Press Club, just listen to this.

REID: With his reelection and with yesterday's elections in Iraq, President Bush has a golden opportunity to change course, to use his State of the Union address as a chance to come clean with the American people, to outline a stronger, clearer policy to succeed in Iraq, defend America from danger and advance the security and liberty of people around the world.

RUSH: Now, what do you say to this? What in the world is there to say to this? This is not coherent enough to respond to. Change course? It's the Democrats who will not decide on a course in Iraq. They're the ones that keep changing and resetting the bar as I just went through. The president's plan has never changed and it's working as it unfolds before our very eyes. Remember, we shouldn't do the elections either. "No, it's too risky, too dangerous. We can't do the elections when some of these places aren't ready to vote. We can't do the elections because there's going to a bloodbath." Why didn't they want to do the elections, folks? Because they knew this was going to be the result. They knew this was going to be the day. That's why we couldn't do the elections. They don't want George Bush benefiting from anything, and so I don't think they're going to (interruption). What? (interruption) Oh, come on. (interruption) No, no, no, no. I think they were scared. Mr. Snerdley is telling me he thinks the Democrats thought the Iraqis would never get to vote, the "insurgents" would be so powerful. That may well be, that could be a part of that, but don't forget for a moment that they had to have in the back of their minds the possibility that this day would happen. But I know the American left has such a low regard for the U.S. military. They have such a low regard for the military's ability, the military's competence, that maybe it's true that they didn't think this day would ever happen because they didn't think the U.S. military was up to it.

Maybe they didn't think it would happen because they didn't think the Iraqi people really cared. Maybe they didn't think it would happen because freedom and democracy, remember to the Democrats it's not for everybody, certainly not for Arabs. We had people call this program say, "It's not our job to bring freedom over there. We don't know what those Arabs are like. They've never had a duly constituted election. Who says they want one now?" You go to the rest of the Arab countries and take a look at the populations today at what they're looking at now and they're wishing they could do the same thing. This is going to start the domino effect, tidal wave or whatever you want to call it, tsunami, just as everybody thought it would. Now, if the Democrats are just not bright enough to see this then they're in even worse shape than I thought. But this is just sophistry to sit here and say that now we've got the elections President Bush has a golden opportunity to change course and a chance to come clean? If there needs to be a come-to-clean meeting, if there needs to be massive showers with lots of soap involved, it needs to be Democrats under the water. And if there needs to be somebody with some new maps to take a change of course it's the Democrats. This is not even coherent here, folks. I don't know what else to say about it.

Rush just nailed it here! Yesterday the 'Rats were forced to realize that Bush was a success and that the American Democrats are among the big losers in the war on terror.

It must have been a bad day for the Dims if Billary faints during one of speeches. Could it be that she has suddenly realized how out of touch she really is?

The pessimism and gloom and doom of the dumocrat party is not new. If you look at their policies, that is all it's about.Kill the unborn, because having a baby is a PROBLEM to: career, freedom, education etc etc. Blacks CAN'T make it on their own merits, they have to have some Dum elitists GIVE them oportunity. I could go on, but I might have to take some anti-depressant. You get the point.

I can't stand Bill O'Rielly, but I was in traffic and couldn't hit the radio's pre-programmed button right off the bat and I heard him say that T. Kennedy is absolutely dead in the Democrat party from here on out!!! His credibility is finally completely shot dead!!!

Not sure I agree and I sure don't like that tin-horned talk host, Big "O" riley, but maybe... just maybe... The hog has finally rooted up a berry!!!

I happened to speak a couple of nights ago with a very active liberal woman at a going-away party we were giving for someone else. You really have to wonder at these people. Like many of our liberal friends she really seems to be a decent person in most ways, but she was just totally out of touch with reality. For instance, she couldn't conceive of the idea that it was hillary, and not the conservatives, who undermined Howard Dean.

Underneath all the rest of it, it's a mystery to me how so many seemingly nice, kind, decent, intelligent neighbors, who are nice and friendly and have nice kids, can support abortion across the board, to the point where they won't even allow parental consent laws to be considered.

I suppose it was like that in ancient Phoenicia, where some people were good and some bad, but all agreed to sacrificing their first-born children to Moloch, because that was the done thing.

Howard Dean was Bush's "dream candidate," the GOP could have easily saved $100 million if Dean had been the nominee. If sKerry hadn't made such a big deal about Vietnam and flip-flopped so much, the race would have been a whole lot closer. Dean is a leftist nutcase with absolutely none of the Klintoon's political savvy -- we couldn't hope for a better DNC chairman.
