CHICAGO, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- More than 10 percent of all Illinois sex offenders on parole live in one Chicago zip code, according to the Chicago Tribune.
A total of 158, or 10.5 percent, of all state sex offenders live in poor African-American neighborhoods on Chicago's south side where group homes have been located -- a practice that has angered residents and city leaders.
Paroled sex offenders in Illinois are required to spend time at a transitional facility before they can go to permanent homes. "They dump every damn thing here. It's a disrespect to our community,"
Alderwoman Carrie Austin said. "If they're ours, then we have to accept ours. But (state corrections officials) don't care -- just so they have them off their books at my community's expense."
State corrections officials have denied the racial makeup of a neighborhood has any role in where paroled sex offenders are sent, however, the state has begun sending paroled sex offenders to a broader range of communities, the Tribune said.

They
need to keep them in one zip code.
Any prison will do.

We had that problem in our community....more than half the sex offenders statewide came from one county, but when they came out they were being assigned to us...took a lot of bitching, but more equitable now.
Sux when they do that.

the best cure is to release them in the same block as the judge who sentenced him/her.

Rev. William McCoy, its presiding pastor. He estimated that about 40 percent of the residents come from Downstate. "down state to the rev. is anywhere in Illinois but Chicago. I live in Illinois but not in Chicago. I don't live "down state" either.
