Worm adds insult to injury

A new worm, Cisum.A, is spreading through network connections, throwing insults as it goes. Once a computer is infected a message is displayed in a new window stating, "YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!!" Additionally, an MP3 file plays a message with the same phrase and repeats it every 5 seconds. The malware also disables any anti-virus and firewall software that is on the PC. In a strange twist, Cisum.A also looks for Bagle or Netsky infections and attempts to remove them. The virus is currently rated as a low threat by Panda Software

"YOU ARE AN IDIOT!!!" That's quite possibly true of many of those whose computers become infected.

(Just my opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary.)

Hmmm.... how about these virus writers getting a mandatory sentence of 1 month of incarceration for every computer they infect?

Prison is too costly for vermin such as these. Bring back the stocks in the public square.
At least this worm knows its target audience.

Yeah, I saw this earlier. I'm still debating on whether to ping the list or not. It's not like this worm does any serious damage.

The malware also disables any anti-virus and firewall software that is on the PC. Would you still be able to use your anit-virus software in safe mode? How do you remove it?

See the TV ad where a woman's in her cubicle checking her email and she sees one with a promising subject line. Suddenly her screen fills up with pink and an animated face says, "Congratulations! You've launched the Pink Slip Virus! And they'll be sure to trace it to you!" In cubicles all around her, the computers start to do the same
thing. She slumps in her chair, trying not to be noticed.
Announcer: "Wanna get away?"
It's for Southwest Airlines, I think...

Anything that intrudes without your permission is reason enough.

So, how are those Mac games? Fine, but I do keep a PC around for games (though I should get an XBox one of these days). However, when I want to get some work done I use the Mac.

I enjoy my CIVIII, Medal of honor, and others... thanks for asking..
