I now have to wonder if Mr. Freidman was the same guy that was facing indictment* as a result of the ongoing Bergergate investigations. Also, note, "He also assisted in the campaign of Sen. Jay Rockefeller " who IMO is knee-deep in Bergergate via Memogate.

(2/23/01): Manhattan U.S. attorney Mary Jo White announces her office is investigating commutations Clinton granted to four Hasidic men from upstate New York, amidst allegations the men promised to generate votes for Hillary’s Senate run in exchange for the presidential action. The men, convicted of stealing millions in federal funds, all received clemency, and their Hasidic neighbors, known for usually voting Republican, hand Hillary an overwhelming (statisticians say aberrant) number of votes.
